MAJ. T. C. CLARK. CHANCELLOR CLARK was perhaps as widely known as any man in Alabama and was universely respected for his honesty and integrity. On the Bench, he was a stern Judge, yielding nothing and compelling the most implicit obedience. As a private gentleman, he was affable and sociable and it was hard to realize that CHANCELLOR CLARK on and off the Bench was the same man. He was a man of untiring application and observed the greatest system in his business and professional engagements. While living, he was honored and respected by the people of Ala. (Selma Times) HON. WM. M. MEREDITH, Secretary of Treasury under PRESIDENT TAYLOR died on 17th. JAMES B. IVEY (32 V), an old and prominent citizen of North Sumter died a few days ago. MOSES MELSEN, a Dallas Co. planter was killed by lightning last week. MR. BALL, Sheriff of Washington Co. died of apoplexy a few days ago. DR. W. D. F. KELLY has removed from Birmingham to Demopolis where he has opened a drug store. On Sat. the 9th, HON. J(OHN) G. PIERCE (24 V) died at the residence of his father, HON. WM. F. PIERCE (48 V) in Eutaw; and on the following Monday, his father died. The son had gone to Blount Springs to recruit his health but growing worse, his father went thither and brought him home.
