THOMAS CEMETERY (1) LOCATION: Section 2-2S-1W - N/2 SE SW NE on Bentley Road. Note: The following three graves were surrounded by a woven wire fence. THOMAS, EMILY - Wife of Charles Thomas. May 19, 1828 - Nov. 16, 1904. THOMAS, CHARLES - Born April 16, 1815 - died Sept. 30, 1871. (marble stone). Note: Charles Thomas -M- Emily Sullivan on Oct. 12, 1853 (MB-4B) THOMAS, CHARLIE - Born August 3, 1854, Departed this life January 27, 1894. A precious one from us has gone, A voice we loved is stilled; a place is vacant in our home, which never can be filled. (Oddfellow links on this marble stone). Note: The head and foot stones of James Thomas were outside the fence which enclosed these graves but according to a family descendant he is actually buried within the fence. Why his stones are outside the fence is unknown. There are some unmarked graves outside the fence but the family descendant said that only the above four were "supposed" to be buried here. The unmarked graves may be the graves of slaves. THOMAS, JAMES - James Thomas was born in Bedford Cty., Virginia, May 21, 1801, and Departed this life October 16, 1852 (marble stone).
