March 12, 1875 "HON. BEN. EDWARDS GRAY died at Bellevue, Dallas County on the night of the 1st." April 2 1875 "GEN. T. E. McIVER died in Dallas Co. on the 8th aged 98." "MRS. ELIZABETH CLAY died in Dallas County on the 21st in her 80th year." Married on 31st at residence of MR. BASSEN near Livingston by REV. J. S. FRIERSON, MR. HUGH W. GREENLEE and MISS KATE C. COBLENTZ, all of this county. MISS RODY BYNUM (62 SC; seems to be w. of John Bynum) of Blount Co. aged 88 has removed to Texas. Elder Z. H. GORDON" the father of Senator GORDON of Ga. is a resident of Seale, Russell Co. Ala. He has been in Baptist ministry over 50 years; is 79 years of age and has baptised over 1000 persons. April 9, 1875 Married on 9th at residence of bride's father by REV. J. S. FRIERSON, MR. A. P. EVANS and MISS J. H. JENKINS, all of this co. Estate of YANCEY MITCHELL, deceased. ANDERSON LIPSCOMB, executor of will. JAMES B. STANSEL of Pickens Co. has removed to Macon (Noxubee Co), Miss. M. A. GRISSOM under indictment for murder died in Mobile jail Monday. On 26th, THOMAS CANTWELL was killed by W. B. NOLAND in Pickens Co. April 16, 1875 "MRS. MARY L. HARDEE of Dallas Co. widow of the late GENERAL HARDEE died in St. Augustine, Fla. on the 6th." "COL. GEORGE W. GAYLE (44 SC), an old and prominent citizen of Dallas, died last Saturday." MR. H. MEARS and family have removed from Port Huron, Mich, to Huntsville, Ala. April 23 1875 Died Feb. 10th at residence of her father, MR. J. C. DAVIDSON near Belmont, this county, MRS. VIRGINIA CARDEN aged 21. WILLIAM 0. WINSTON, guardian of TEXANNA BALLARD, WALTER R. BALLARD and WILLIAM C. BALLARD, minors. Final settlement of guardianship. JOHN LAWLEY of Coosa Valley is father of 21 children, 11 he has seen married"? April 30, 1875 MRS. WIMBERLEY (42 NC) in his 67th year. May 14, 1875 "JOSEPH N. ESKRIDGE who killed Brantley in Mississippi two or three years ago is to be hanged on 18th of June. Both were from Dallas Co." An interesting daughter of MR. R. W. ENNIS aged about 6 years died of diphtheria on 28th DR. JOSEPH BORDEN, a son-in-law of MR. JAMES RHODES of Sumter died in Fresno Co. CaT? on 9th. Had been a citizen of Cal. for several years. REV. JESSE TOMLIN, Primitive Baptist treasurer of Dale Co. is 86.
