August 28 1873 Married at St. Johns Church, ELYTON at 9 o'clock yesterday, Wednesday morning by REV. P. H. FITTS, MR. FRENCH NABORS of Montevallo to MISS SARAH E. HAWKINS of the former place. Married in Yallobusha County, Mississippi August 10, 1873, MR. DAVID RICE to MRS. M. A. OZLEY, formerly wife of W. T. OXLEY of this co. (OZLEY seems to be right) September 4, 1873 Married in this place at residence of the bride's father on evening of 2nd by JUDGE J. T. LEEPER, MR. W. M. NABERS to MISS ADDIE ELLIOTT all of this place. MISS THEODOSIA RENFROE, daughter of REV. J. J. D. RENFROE, pastor of Talladega Baptist Church, died a few days ago. RUFUS GREEN, well known throughout the state died at the residence of MRS. ELMER, his wife's stepmother near Wetumpka on 26 August aged 60. September 11 1873 CAPTAIN A. N. PORTER died in Selma on 2nd. He was a nephew of JUDGE T. A. WALKER of Calhoun. MR. THOMAS JENKINS, a Selma merchant, committed suicide in that city Thursday (excessive drinking). Married in Wetumpka on 2nd, MR. F. ELBERT TAYLOR of Birmingham to MISS LYDIA SMITH. September 18 1873 Dead--HIRAM BUTLER for many years a resident of this county and a merchant of Montevallo died at his residence in Meriden, Conn on 30th. September 25, 1873 State of Alabama Shelby County. Probate Court AMOS M. ELLIOTT, administrator of WILLIAM HUGHES, deceased. Sept. 6, 1873 October 2 1873 As REV. J7 McLEROY and wife from near Harpersville were going from this place to Primitive Baptist Association at Mt. Olive Church 2 miles west of this place last Sat. morning the mule scared at a stump...MRS. McLEROY died Sat. night. MR. A. GARRETT, an old citizen of this county died at his residence 3 or 4 miles west of this place last Fri. night. MRS. MISSOURI FOUST, wife of W. N. FOUST, died last Sat. night of consumption at their residence 4 miles east of this place. State of Alabama-Shelby County. Probate Court Sept. 1, 1873 NOAH HAGGARD deceased.
