April 21 1826 Died at his residence in New Town on Monday night, 17th inst. CAPT. GEORGE COX, formerly of the US Navy; left amiable wife and several small children. April 28, 1826 Married on Tuesday evening 24th inst. by REV. MR. CURTIS, HENRY W. COLLIER, attorney at law to MISS MARY ANN BATTLE all of this place. May 5, 1826 Departed this life at late residence in this place on Sunday morning 30 ult. after lingering illness, MRS. HANNAH FEW, formerly of the state of Georgia; embraced religion at early age of 13, Methodist Episcopal; left family of several children. Died in Pickens County in 25th year after prolonged illness, DR. HARRIS BREWTON, late of South Caroline (communicated). Divorce notice filed by EVELINA SPENCER versus JOHN SPENCER. May 12, 1826 Letter from HAMILTON states that on April 16, house of JAMES BOAL was struck by lightning. "MR. BOAL was deprived of his wife and two children and a widowed mother, MRS. PERRINE, of a daughter.” There were four others in the room, three of MR. BOAL'S children and the daughter of mrs. McCarron. May 12 1826 Bibb County, ROBERT HILL, administrator in right of his wife, ALEXANDER HILL and ROBERT COLEMAN, administrators of estate of WILLIE COLEMAN, deceased to make final settlement. May 26, 1826 WILLIAM B. GILES of Amelia County has been elected a representative in the Virginia Legislature. Advertisement of ALEXANDER McCARTNEY of Winchester, Tenn, for a runaway slave.
