prisoner and marched to south of Cape Fear River and kept confined on board a prison ship for six months. At the close of the Revolution, he retired to labors of private life and early became one of citizens of the Territory, now the state of Alabama. For last 25 years of his life, he was a worthy member of the Church and in the cheerfulness and contentment of his mind seemed to anticipate that future happiness.... Communicated: Died in this city on evening of 2d inst. MR. CHARLES W. COZENS, late of Columbia, SC in his 36th year. December 23, 1840 Obituary: A patriarch has been taken from amongst us...ALLEN GLOVER. A few minutes after 11 o'clock on Thursday 3rd inst. in 72d year, he closed his eyes in death after a protracted and painful illness. He was the head of a numerous and highly respected family. In February, A D 1820 he emigrated from Abbeville District, SC to Alabama and located himself in the dense forest upon what was then called White Bluff on Tombeckbee river, now Dempolis.
