COOPER, EATON, FOSTER, SKELTON and WH-ITING Accounts allowed: CHARLES BEALL'S (Marshal) account and quarterly salary $145.75 ROBERT S. INGE (Mayor account and quarterly salary: $48.00; T. F. SAMUEL (Secretary) $27'; OTIS DYER's account for hire of servant 32 days: $24; JAMES HULLUM for same, $9.75; JANE POWELL's account for same, $3.75; THOMAS CUMMINGS' account for same, $8.25; H. G. DONOHO's account for same, $2.35; JOHN FORRESTER'S account for three days work, $2.25; HENRY T. ANTHONY'S account, 4 days work, $3.00. The Board proceeded to elect a watchman. The names of ADAM POOL and JAMES O'BRIEN were in nomination and JAMES O'BRIEN having received all the votes, was declared duly elected watchman for the term of one month. MR. SKELTON, aiderman from the 1st ward, offered his resignation, which the Board refused to receive. By a private letter from Centreville, Bibb County, we learn of an encounter between EZEKIEL HENRY and CROCKETT G. DAVIS, in which the latter received nine stabs with a knife (Wetumpka Times) Since reading the above, we learn that DAVIS has died of wounds. Many of the citizens will remember DAVIS as Messenger of the House of Representatives in 1840. Melancholy Tradegy. On Tuesday last, MR. WILLIAM NEIL was killed in this place by a man named HENRY GEE. MR. NEIL left a large fami1y of children, whose mother died about a year ago (Gainesville Pilot) August 23, 1843 Married at her father's residence near Blount Springs, on the 17th instant by HON. THOMAS SHEARER, ALEXANDER EWING, Esq. to MISS ROBERTA ANN, daughter of DR. HENRY W. RHODES. Candidate: GEORGE B. CLITHERALL for re-election to office of Secretary of State. August 30, 1843 Reward for the arrest of EZEKIEL HENRY, who murdered CROCKETT G. DAVIS in the County of Bibb on the 7th of August, 1843. HENRY is described as being about 23 years of age, and has dark hair and blue eyes. September 6, 1843 State of Alabama--Bibb County. Orphans Court. JOHN W. DAVIS $269.92 belonging to said estate and that part of the heirs of said estate reside beyond the limits of this state. COMBS, candidate for Messenger of House of Representatives. September 20, 1843 Obituary: Died in this city on the 9th instant, MRS. CAROLINE SUSAN, consort of MR. WILLIAM MILLER in her 24th year....
