This day was presented by Probate Court by WILLIAM SLAYTON a paper purporting to be the will of OBADIAH SLAYTON, deceased. This is to notify SARAH HASTY (m. 1858 COLLINS WM. HASTEY), JAMES D. SLAYTON and MARY BLOCKER wife of W. G. BLOCKER, non-residents and next of kin. (m. 1. 1839 GEO AGNER or EGNER Z. 1840 WM. G. BLOCKER.) June 12, 1872 Married on 23rd at residence of bride's father, HON. THOS. M. GABBERT, deceased by HON. JOHN BROWN, Judge of Probate, MR. McGUIRE SPEARS to MISS ARABELLA R. GABBERT, all of Jasper, Walker Co. Ala. June 19, 1872 Died in this city on Fri. 14th, ELLA LIVINGSTON, daughter of ROBT. and FANNY HATTEN aged 1 yr. and 6 days. Married in West Point, Miss, on 6th by REV. MR. COOPER, MR. L. F. BRADSHAW to MISS SALLIE M. McEACHIN, sister of our townsman, A. B. McEACHIN, Esq. June 26 1872 Died, JOSEPH SMITH, son of JAMES and SILVY SMITH; born in Fauquier Co. Va. April 4, (1801) (yes--cen 1850 p 113 b Va). Baptised in Long Branch Baptist Church in 1830; removed to Ala. 1832 and united with Beulah Church by letter; was a member of Shiloh Church at death. Married MISS MARY LEAVELL Dec. 24, 1834, by whom he had 10 children, 7 still alive... (MRS. OPHELIA PHILLIPS says MARY was sis of SARAH LEAVELL who m. 1841 BALONS JENNINGS.) Died in this city on 25th, EMMET LEE, infant son of ROBERT and FANNY HATTEN aged 1 year and 16 days. July 17, 1872 Married at University of Miss, on 10th by REV. MR. WADDELL, DR. EUGENE A. SMITH and MISS JENNIE GARLAND, daughter of DR. L. C. GARLAND (note: EUGENE A. SMITH was State Geologist of Ala.) July 24, 1872 Married at Providence, Grenada Co. Miss, on 5th, REV. JOHN C. FINNELL and MISS WILLIE GRIER. July 31, 1872 Death of HON. B. I. HARRISON. We are pained to learn by a private letter from his son to a citizen of this place that B. I. HARRISON formerly of Summerfield, afterwards for 2 yrs. Principal of the Female Academy at this place, died at his residence in Tuskaloosa on Sun. night last... From Jacksonville Republican. August 14, 1872 Married at the residence of A. C. HARGROVE, Esq. in this city, on Mon. eve. the 12th by REV. P(HILIP) A(UGUSTIN) FITTS (Enos min), W. G. COCHRANE, Esq., County Solicitor, to MISS LILLEY TAYLOR, daughter of JOHN TAYLOR, Esq. of Mobile. An elegant reception was given at the residence of the bridegroom's mother, MRS. S. L. COCHRANE of New Town. August 27, 1872 In memoriam- MARY EMMA, infant daughter of CAPT. A. F. & S. PRINCE of Tuscaloosa Co. who died Aug. 11, 1872. Died after a protracted illness at residence of his father in Foster's Settlement, Tuscaloosa Co., W(M). RUFUS QUARLES, son of S(AML) W. QUARLES, Esq. aged 33 yrs. 5 mo. and 24 days. September 4, 1872 Married Aug. 13th in Mobile by RT. REV. R. H. WILMER, DR. SID B. SMITH of Birmingham and MISS FANNIE, daughter of DR. W. H. BEATTY of that city. Death of MAJOR M. J. WILLIAMS of Selma, died suddenly near Shelby Springs on 29th; well known over the state. September 11, 1872 Married on 4th by REV. E. H. KESSLER at residence of the bride's father, MR. H. G.
