Died of a protracted illness at his late residence in Foster's settlement, MH- WILKERSON V. WARD on Sat. Sept. 7 in 59th yr. Died at his late residence in Southwestern portion of this co. Sun. Sept. 8, ELIAS BARTON, Esq. aged about 72. In this city on 9th, MARY EMMA, daughter of REV. and MRS. C. W. BUCK. September 18, 1872 Married at residence of bride's father, JUDGE WM. MILLER in Tuscaloosa on 11th by REV. DR. STILLMAN, MR. FLETCHER ROPER of Prattville, Ala. and MISS KATE S. MILLER. Died at Oxford, Miss, on the 8th, MISS ALICE, daughter of PROF, and MRS. L. C. GARLAND aged about 16. Died in this city on the 12th, MRS. MARTHA C. wife of J. A. SKELTON. Died in Tuscaloosa on the 12th, MARY EMMA, daughter of REV. and MRS. C. W. BUCK, aged about 5 years. Died at his residence a few miles west of North Port on Sunday the 15th, S. F. MOSES, for many years a highly respected citizen of this county. McLESTER in this city, Tuesday morning the 12th by REV. GEORGE H. HUNT, MR. EDWARD SNOW to MISS CARRIE McLESTER. December 4, 1872 Died, HON. NEWTON L. WHITFIELD, one of Representatives from this county to Legislature; died of pneumonia in Montgomery at half past 2 o'clock A.M. Mon. last, 2nd inst.. Paper in mourning for him. Mr. Editor: We have in our county a family that is worthy of notice. That family is old MR. CHANDLER MADDOX (@ 70 in 1850 b SC) and his wife. They are both 96 years old, about 3 weeks difference in their ages. (Wife LUCINDA @ 66 b SC. Letter from HUBERT L. PERRY, P.O. Box 414, Caldwell, Tex 77836 Aug. 23, 1971 - My Maddox came from SC to Ga & then thru Ala. I have a LAWSON or LOSSON MADDOX & his bro. CHANDLER who were both in Albert Co. Ga 1820. CHANDLER was in Girnnett Co. Ga 1840 & Tuscaloosa Co. 1860. There was a JOHN MADDOX as well as thus in Tuscaloosa Co. in 1840 & 1850 thus JOHN was son of LAWSON, was in Fayette Co. Ala as was his father LAWSON MADDOX Their oldest son is living, of about 76 years old. They have a 209 - (3509)
