September 18, 1868 Died on the 9th at the residence of her mother, MRS. BETTY MILLS, consort of PRESTON MILLS and daughter of JOSEPH and SELINA PRESTON in her 40th year. Leaves two orphan boys. Died on the 17th of congestive chill, JAMES BROWN aged about 15 of this city. September 22, 1868 COL. F. M. WINDES of this state died in Lynchburg (Campbell Co.), Va. on the 16th. He commanded a regiment of cavalry under GEN. RODDY and was a gallant officer. JACOB D. SCHRIMSHER (9 A) of this county was drowned in Duck River below Columbia, Tenn, on the 15th aged 26, son of A(NDREW) J. SCHRIMSHER (35 NC). Methodist. Leaves wife and one child. WEBSTER GILBERT, one of the early settlers and Indian fighters in this state- died last week in Butler Co. aged 85. September 25, 1868 Married on 23 at residence of the bride's father by REV. M. B. DeWITT, MR. JAS. E. CAIN to MISS ANNA GILL. Married on 23 at residence of MRS. SCHLACK by REV. M. B. DeWITT, MR. GEORGE W. BERRY to MISS MATTIE W. SCOTT. On 17, by REV. E. R. BERRY, MR. THOMAS M. J. AUSTIN to MISS MILDRED P. MITCHELL, all of this county. On 17 by REV. E. R. BERRY, MR. LeROY P. CAMPBELL to MISS ELIZA E. DUNCAN, all of this county. Died in Maysville on 13, J. WILLIE DERRICK, eldest son of WILLIAM M. and JANE DERRICK aged 19 years 4 months and 3 days. At residence of H. H. HADEN, Aug. 28, LULA, daughter of WILLIAM P. and SARAH J. SMITH and granddaughter of H(ORATIO) H. HADEN, Esq. aged 8 months. On 16, H. H. KIRKLAND aged 31 years and 8 days; of 4th Ala. Reg. In Maysville on 15th, JOHN M. eldest child of W. C. HALL aged 11. SMITH ADAMS (54 Pa), Esq. , for many years a magistrate of this place and an old citizen died on 23 after a short illness. DERUSHA DAFFIN, Esq. for 18 years, Clerk of Circuit Court of Clarke Co. Ala. died on 27th. September 29, 1868 Died on 26th, MRS. MARY G. IRBY (41 V, d of FRANCIS MASTIN), relie of late DR. E(DMUND) IRBY (60 V) of this place. DR. D. C. GLENN, a prominent politician and lawyer of Mississippi died last week. October 2 1868 Remains of MR. W. G. BIBB will be buried at 4 o'clock. Service from Episcopal Church by REV. MR. BEARD. October 6, 1868 Died on 5th, MRS. MARY TONEY (26 Pa), wife of COL. ED. TONEY (43 V). Funeral will take place this afternoon at 4 o'clock from Episcopal church. On 3rd near Triana, MRS. ELIZABETH KIRBY (43 NC) at advanced age. Familiarly known as "Aunt Betsy" (wid of WM. KIRBY, 1812 sol who d 1847) REV. B. F. PERRY, Methodist preacher in Hayneville died last week. October 9, 1868 Died on 4, NELLIE, infant daughter of L. E. and MARY R. (or B- ink worn off) BAKER of this city. October 13, 1868 Married at Donegan Hotel in this city on 12 by REV. M. B. DeWITT, MR. W. P. HARPER (HOOPER) of Yanceyville (Caswell Co.), N.C. to MISS MATTIE (MARTHA ANN; 10 A) daughter of THOMAS S. McCALLEY (39 V), Esq. of this vicinity. Died on 11th, KATIE DOWNS, infant daughter of MR. and MRS. CARL NEWMAN aged 11 months and 12 days. CAPT. ROBERT HARRISON, 33 Regiment U.S.I. died here Sunday after a short illness. Remains to be taken to Chattanooga for interment in 228 - (3528)
