April 27, 1869 Died in this county on the 23rd of congestion of the brain and spinal column, LESLIE, second son of J. M. and'ADELIA P. MOSS. Born Jan. 5, 1853 in Boone County, Illinois; in 1854 moved to Waverly, Iowa and in 1866 to this county. April 30 1869 Died in this city on the 26th, YOUNG HUMES aged about 19 months, son of JAMES and SUSIE C. WHITE. MRS. REBECCA ELOISA WITHERS, wife of GEN. JONES M. WITHERS died in Mobile on the 22nd. MR. JOSEPH ANGELL, formerly of this place died in Brooklyn, N.Y. April 24th aged 61. Baptist. May 4, 1869 Married on the 29th by J. J. PITTS, PETER G. HASTEN, formerly of Giles Co. Tenn, to MISS LIZZIE A. PHILLIPS of Madison Co. Ala. May 7 1869 Married in the Presbyterian Church Thursday evening in this place May 6th by DR. F. A. ROSS, DR. ROBERT L. HALLONQUIST of Lowndes Co. to MISS HATTIE FIGURES, eldest daughter of W. B. FIGURES of Huntsville, Ala. May 11 1869 Died on Sunday morning the 9th in this city, LULA MARIA, daughter of MR. and MRS. JAMES A. PICKARD aged 4 years, 9 months and 7 days. JOHN G. BLACKWELL was appointed Receiver of Public Moneys at Huntsville on the 7th; GEN. D. M. BRADFORD is the present incumbent. GEN. BRADFORD is one of the Union patriarchs of this region, a veteran of the War of 1812, an opponent of secession revolutionary democracy; a good officer. COL. A(UGUSTINE) J. WITHERS, an old and well known citizen of this vicinity died on Friday last in his 64th year. May 15, 1869 Married in St. Clair County on the 6th by HON. THOMAS N. MONTGOMERY, HON. H. J. SPRINGFIELD to MISS MARY E. C. FRANKLIN. (m in St. Clair Co. 12-24-1861 MARY C. M0STILL0--con. of mother, CATHARINE SPRINGFIELD wit H. B. SPRINGFIELD; m. 2-28-1866 JOICIE L. SIMPSON; groom m before) Married on the 20th on White's Creek (Davidson Co.), Tennessee by REV. MR. WILLI(S?) MR. W. F. TURK to MISS BOBELL FULGHAM of Huntsville. Died on the 20th in Franklin County, Virginia, MRS. ANN JUDSON SMITH, wife of REV. H. P. SMITH of this city. MRS. HARRIET B. MACOMB, wife of the late GEN. MACOMB is dead aged 86. June 1, 1869 Married on the 27th in Chickasaw Co. Miss, at the residence of CAPT. G. R. KIDD by REV. DR. EGBERT, MAJ. S. A. JONAS of Aberdeen to MISS JULIA JORDAN of this city. Died on the 29th after a short illness, MRS. HARRIET FARISS, wife of the late DANDRIDGE FARISS, Esq. in her 63rd year. Native of Philadelphia and came to Hutnsville nearly 50 years ago, where she continued to live up to her death. She was a Presbyterian, having attached herself to it when DR. JOHN ALLEN was its Pastor... JOHN RUSSELL (m. 1860 DEKALB 64 T, m 1850 54 T) of DeKalb Co. Ala. died on the 22nd aged 73. B. S. HAMILTON, an old merchant of Nashville died there last week. June 8, 1869 Married on the 28th near Flint Factory by Esq. R. A. PETTEY, MR. PLEASANT W. MILES to MISS SARAH C. COUCH, all of this county. 234 - (3534)
