Married on the 18th inst. by REV. J. H. DRAKE, MR. ELI B. SMITH to MISS ELIZABETH ANYAN, daughter of CAPT. B. S. ANYAN, all of this county September 9, 1870 MR. RICHARD KAVANAUGH, a most intelligent man raised here and beloved by all who knew him died in Missouri a few weeks ago. Was a son of CORTEZ D. KAVANAUGH. Married on the 23rd in Elyton at the residence of the bride's father, HON. W. S. MUDD by REV. J. F. SMITH, MISS JENNIE T. MUDD to WILLIAM A. WALKER, JR. Esq. Died on 7th of consumption, MRS. EMMA J. WALKER, formerly EMMA J. DeBOW and wife of ELIJAH F. WALKER of this county aged 19. September 16, 7870 MR. WILLIAM POWERS, an old and highly respected citizen of this city died on the 14th. Bom in Virginia in 1787 but had been a resident of Ala. since 1818 and was a soldier of the War of 1812. Died on the 7th inst. near Nashville, JOHN E. TUCKER aged 58, formerly of this city. September 30, 1870 Died in Meridianville on the 21st inst. MR. JOHN G. BENTLEY in his 66th year. MR. BENTLEY was one of our oldest and most respected citizens, having moved to this state from Virginia in 1825. He was a member of the M. E. Church South from early youth. October 14, 1870 Died near Tibbee, Mississippi on the 9th inst., MRS. MATTIE JONES, wife of DR. RICHARD JONES, formerly of Huntsville. Remains will be buried in the cemetery here at 3 o'clock this afternoon from the Episcopal Church. October 21, 1870 Died on the 16th, MR. WILLIAM A. McGAHA aged about 46.
