Died on 16th near Cherokee, Ala. MR. GOODLOE MALONE (52 NC, Franklin Co. Census), formerly of this city. (of Colbert Co.--see vol 56 p 70) State of Alabama-Madison Co. Probate Ct. Feb. 27, 1871. This day came A. A. CARY and wife, CATHARINE T. CARY (28), legatee and heir-at-law, and propounded for probate instrument of writing purporting to be the last will and testament of MILES KING (12 A, JOHN D). The following named heirs-at-law are non-residents of Ala. viz: JOHN W. KING, resides at Covington (Kenton Co.), Kentucky; MARY PRICE (23 A) and her husband, --------PRICE, resides in San Francisco, Cal; MRS. SALLIE McGEHEE, wife of A. F. McGEHEE and ROSALIND KING (8A) in Panola Co. Mississippi; JENNIE BEALE and SHEPPARD BEALE, residence unknown; and JAMES KING, residence in Mississippi; JENNIE BEALE and JAMES KING are minors (bros & sisters of MILES KING). JAMES B. JAMES aged 80 and PLEAS. WHITECOTTON aged 33 died in Cherokee Co. last week. March 10, 1871 Married on the 23rd by REV. J. J. BURDINE, MR. JOSEPH R. WALKER to MISS MARY D. SLOAN, all of Madison Co. Died on 5th of pneumonia, LEROY P. McCRARY, son of B. P. and LAVINIA McCRARY aged 17 years 10 mo. March 17, 1871 Died at Whitesburg, Alabama March 5, 1871, MRS. ELIZABETH JANE RADFORD aged 37 years 11 days. On the 10th after a short illness, MR. C(HRISTOPHER) B. WILLIAMS (s of WM. & MARTHA K) of this vicinity. He was a good man and a quiet orderly citizen and had many friends. March 24, 1871 Resolutions on death of BRO. C. B. WILLIAMS by I. 0. 0. F. Lodge no. 25. HON. S. L. RUGG of Indiana, father of COL. D. C. RUGG of this place died on 28th aged 65. Stood high as a man and was the father of the public school system in Indiana. April 14, 1871 Married on the 4th by REV. M. B. DeWITT, MR. C(HARLES) H. CUMMINGS to MRS. MARY HARRIS, all of this city. Died at the residence of her mother, MRS. SALLIE WATKINS near Jackson, Mississippi Mar. 24, 1871, MRS. MARIAN SHELBY ROSS, wife of COL. F. W. ROSS, daughter of the late DR. MILES S. WATKINS, formerly of Huntsville. April 21, 1871 Married on the 12th at the residence of the bride's mother in this city by REV. ANSON WEST, MR. ANDREW TANNOCK, JR. to MISS SUE W. CAROTHERS (9A JOSEPH), all of this city. April 28, 1871 ALEX. EDDINS died in Lincoln County, Tennessee on the 13th aged 72; and MRS. MARY HILL on the 19th aged 76. In DeKalb Co. Tenn. MOSES BLYE was killed and SAMPSON TRAMWELL whipped by disguised men. Married on the 30th by REV. J. W. BROWN, MR. WM. A. STEWART to MISS MARTHA McCLURE all of this county. On the 6th by REV. ALEX. PENLAND, MR. W. D. GARDNER to MISS MARY STOGNER, all of this county. Married on the 6th by REV. W. WEAKLEY, MR. THOMAS B. LEE to MISS PARTHENIA GIBSON, all of this county. Married on the 16th by REV. A. S. LAKIN, MR. WM. C. WELLS to MISS EMMA EZELL, all of this county. On the 16th by REV. M. B. DeWITT, MR. JACOB HORSCH to MISS SENA (or Soma?) HORN, all of this county. On the 20th by R. D. WILSON, Esq., MR. JAS. A. HOOK to MISS BETTIE MOFFITT, all of this county. "MAJ. WELDON of Selma died on the 22nd." 246 - (3546)
