H.) and daughter of OTHNIEL (53 NC) and MARY RICE (35 T) died aged 24 years 3 months and 20 days; of consumption. May 19, 1871 MR. GEO. T. JONES (1790-1871) of this county died at his residence near New Market on the 4th inst. aged 81 years. He was for a great many years a prominent and useful citizen taking a lively interest in public affairs and had been a member of the Legislature. He was noted for his energy, good sense and probity. COL. HAL. C. CHAMBERS of Miss, died a few days since. Native of Huntsville. May 26, 1871 Married in Fayetteville, Tenn, on the 11th by REV. MAT. M. MARSHALL, MR. S. W. CARMACK to MISS MATTIE G. ROSS. Died on the 23rd at residence of his mother near Huntsville of consumption, LOUIS T. POLLARD (G in census; 13 V) aged 34. June 2, 1871 Married on the 23rd in this city by REV. MR. BUSSEY, MR. JOHN C. ENNIS to MRS. SALLIE ANN SPAULDING, all of Huntsville. Married on the 16th at Falmouth, Ky. by REV. MR. BARBEE, MR. G. J. DAWSON of Dawson Bros. & Co., Huntsville, to MISS ALICE ROBERTS. At Vidalia (Concordia Par), La. on 10 May by HON. THOMAS RIBER, WILLIAM J. SLATTER of Tennessee to MISS BERTA BARROW of La. Died at his residence in this city on Thursday evening May 25, 1871 CHAS. W. CUMMINGS, formerly of Wilson Co. Tenn. HON. J. J. CHAPEL died in Lowndes Co. last week in his 90th year. He was the oldest ex-member of Congress, having served several years from South Carolina. DR. ROBT. M(ASON) CLARK (55 NC--Lawrence Co. 1850 Cen), father of JUDGE J. S. CLARK died on the 11th in his 81st year. He was a soldier in the War of 1812; a Mason, an honest man and a Christian. 247 - (3547)
