Died on Thursday evening in this vicinity of typhoid fever JOHN S. son of HENRY F. HALSEY, Esq. in his 17th year. Died on the 26th after a short illness. MRS. MARY E. BATTLE of this county, widow of the late JOSIAH D. BATTLE. Baptist. April 5, 1872 COL. WALTER DRANE (@ 54 Ga). an old citizen of Lowndes Co. died on the 24th aged 76. SHELDON TOOMER, member of the late Legislature from Lee Co. died on the 26th. WILLIAM LARKIN and.THOMAS DANIEL, old citizens (80 yrs) of Franklin County, Tennessee died last week. Also CAPT. JOHN BENNETT at Tullahoma (Tenn.). April 12, 1872 Married on the 12th by REV. JOHN M. HAMER, MR. GEORGE M. DUNN to MISS JESIE SOLOMON. Married on the 21st by REV. E. R. BERRY, MR. STEPHEN J. STONE to MISS MARY J. SMITH. Married on the 4th by REV. ALEXANDER PENLAND, MR. ISHAM H. HOBBS to MISS MATILDA E. PARKER, all of this co. Died in Brownsboro, Ala. on the 10th, J. F. SANFORD, son of SAMUEL W. and ELIZA J. SANFORD aged 5 years 4 mo. MR. WM. H. WORTHAM died in Maysville in this county on the 7th after a short illness. He had resided in this county for many years and was an active, enterprising, sensible citizen having many friends. He possessed many amiable qualities and was widely known. MARTIN COLE, Esq. died on the 3rd in Cross Roads neighborhoods aged about 85, an honest, respected citizen, having been constable or magistrate much of the time and a constant member of the Baptist church. ROBERT S. HATCHER (48 G), formerly State Senator from Dallas and Wilcox was killed by cars last week. April 19, 1872 Married on the 13th by FATHER KIRWAN, MR. WM. T. W. MORTON of Washington, D.C. to MISS EASLEY of this city. Died on the 11th, MR. BENJ. THOMPSON aged 65 and for many years a citizen of this county. JOHN ASH. formerly State Senator from St. Clair died on the 1st. May 3 1872 HUGH W. FRIZZELL, formerly of Winchester (Franklin Co.), Tennessee died in Nashville last week aged 45. Married on the 24 April at residence of J. M. KERR by REV. J. B. GRAVES, ROV. R. B. CAVITT to MISS D. A. SUTTON, all of Monroe Co. Ark. (to McLane) Died on the 29th, MRS. SALLIE PICKETT, wife of MR. S. F. DARWIN of this place. State of Alabama-Madison Co. Probate Court Apr. 30, 1872. Estate of GARRET S. NUCKOLLS (s of SAM'L; m cen), deceased. VIRGIL A. NUCKOLLS, adm1r. CAPT. A. J. EDMONDSON of Memphis a veteran under JACKSON is dead. COL. JOHN W. DAWSON, a prominent citizen of Memphis died on the 29 th. DR. DAVIS MOORE died at his residence near Vienna in this county on Sat. Sept. 27th. Man of fine sense, an experienced physician, was well known, had many friends and was about 75. Our fellow citizen and friend, MR. JOSIAH SPRINGER of this county is a member of a Delaware family and a direct descendant of one whose will has been discovered owning property where Wilmington stands. May 10, 1872 Married near Whitesburg, Ala. Apr. 25th at the residence of the bride's father by REV. ALEXANDER PENLAND, MR. WILLIAM A. STOGNER to MISS SARAH E. GARDINER, all of this county. Died on 29th March, MRS. M(ARIANNA) FORD at her residence near Meridianville at an advanced age having been born Aug. 4, 1812, widow of the late JOHN FORD, so long a citizen of Madison Co; and she was a most excellent woman, a devoted mother and a kind neighbor. 256 - (3556)
