Died on the 23rd near this place after a long illness, MRS. NANCY L. SCHRIMSHER wife of MR. A. J. SCHRIMSHER; born in Virginia March 17, 1811 and came to this county when only 9 years old. Faithful wife, devoted mother. MRS. AURELIA FITZPATRICK, widow of the late GOVERNOR BENJAMIN FITZPATRICK died on the 25th. September 6, 1872 Died near Cypress Landing, Desha Co. Ark. (to McLane) Aug. 23rd, MRS. E. J. LEWIS (Eliz?), wife of MR. GEO. W. LEWIS, formerly of this county aged 43 years 5 months and 11 days. Died on 27 August in this place, WILLIE A. JONES aged about 8 years, son of MR. JAMES P. and MRS. SARAH J. JONES. Baptist. Congestive chill. September -13, 1872 (From NASHVILLE UNION AND AMERICAN)--''THOMAS PINION of Montgomery County, said to be 118 years of age and a soldier of the first Revolution arrived here yesterday for the purpose of drawing his pension. He came in a wagon accompanied by two sons and two daughters, the youngest of his children being 75 years of age. MR. PINION, his advanced age being considered, exhibits remarkable traces of physical and mental vigor. He gets about with almost as much activity as either of his children and speaks of events of recent and ancient occurrence with a wonderful degree of animation and accuracy. He distinctly remembers the battle of Stony Point and is still able to give a vivid description of that engagement and other events of Revolutionary memory. MR. PINION has not drawn any portion of his pension money since the commencement of the late war, and says he thinks there is a 'right smart coming to him just about now'" Died in this city on the 7th at the residence of her sister, MRS. MARTHA CAYTON, MISS ADELINE MOSELEY. Died in Richmond, Va. Aug. 24 of consumption, MRS. ELLEN A. wife of MR. W. H. JARVIS of this city. Died last week, JOHN ANTHONY CARR of Clay Co. Ala.--suicided. On Sunday last, 1st inst. in Bedford Co. Tenn., REV. MR. LANDRUM, a Baptist preacher suddenly fell dead in the pulpit. September 20, 1872 Married on the 10th in Madison Ala. by REV. L. HENSLY GRUBBS, MR. WILBURN PERRY of Madison Co. to MISS EMILY J. LAWRANCE of Morgan Co. We regret to learn that MR. LUCIEN T. MATTHEWS of this city, who has been ill for several months died yesterday the 18th. MR. WILLIAM MATKIN, an old. well-known and highly esteemed citizen of this county died on the 14th after a long and painful illness. MR. ZACH. DRUMMOND was killed by lightning in Mobile on the 9th. ABEL PHILLIPS, an old citizen of Calhoun Co. died last week. October 4, 1872 (Paper in mourning for WILLIAM B. FIGURES, editor of Huntsville Adv) REV. PETER CARTWRIGHT, the well-known pioneer Methodist preacher died in Illinois on the 25th. P. H. WHETSTONE, late assessor for Autauga Co. died on 20th. Married in Attala 19th Sept, by REV. JOHN POTTER, MR. JOHN B. ROGERS to MISS S. CORNELIA PICKENS, all of Etowah Co. Died in this city on 21 September of pneumonia, HARRIET ELIZA, infant daughter of MR. and MRS. J. F. PHELPS. Died on 27 September in New Market of hemorrhage of lungs, MR. HENRY COCHRAN, brother of JAMES G. COCHRAN, Esq. of this city aged about 23. MR. AARON WRIGHT, a well known citizen of Nashville died last Monday aged 73. Testimony of respect to WILLIAM B. FIGURES, Register in Chancery, by Printers and publishers of Huntsville; Huntsville Bar; Mayor and Aiderman of Huntsville etc. He died at his residence in this city at 2% o'clock morning of the 1st; born March 6, 1820 and commenced publication of his paper in 1838.... Consolation to his widow and orphan. HON. BUSH JONES of Perry Co., presidential elector of 4th District died in Uniontown Sept. 27. 260 - (3560)
