February 28, 1873 Married on 17th inst. by ROBERT W. FIGG, Esq., BASCOMB W. ANDREWS to MISS MARY M. WEST, both of this county. On 17th inst. by R. W. FIGG, JOHN ANDREWS to MISS MARGARET CUNNINGHAM both of this county. March 7, 1873 Married in this county on 1 Jan. by REV. B. W. BUSSEY, MR. M. 0. STRONG to MISS GERTRUDE MOSS, daughter of MR. J. M. MOSS. March 21, 1873 Death of COL. ROBERT FEARN (s of R0BT--census). Died at his residence on Monte Sano near this city on Wed. evening the 12th inst. Although he had been for several years in poor health and recently quite ill, his death was sudden and unexpected. But sudden as the summons was, it found him ready and waiting. He was kind and affectionate in his family, hospitable to his friends and neighbors, charitable to his enemies. He rests beside his noble ancestors who left him a name and character pure and spotless and well he has preserved it. To his broken hearted wife and little orphan children, we feel authorized to tender the heart felt sympathies of our community. March 28 1873 Died in Barnwell, S.C. on the morning of the 20th inst. MRS. HATTIE FIGURES HALLONQUIST, daughter of the late WILLIAM B. FIGURES and wife of DR. ROBERT L. HALLONQUIST. A few months ago left here with her husband to try their fortunes in S.C. Was a good wife, an affectionate daughter. Her devotion to her little boy was beautiful and none will miss her more than he. April 4, 1873 Died in Madison Station, Ala. Mar. 2, 1873 at his mother's residence, MR. E. M. FITTZE aged 4--(blurred) Years 11 mo. and 15 days. April 18,1873 Married in this city on 10th inst. at residence of MR. WILLIAM SPRAGUE by REV. B. B. ROSS, MR. J. M. SNOW of Jackson, Tenn, to MISS NELLIE ROBINSON of this city. April 25, 1873 Death of W. HENRY SMITH. The death of this good man is deeply regretted by many of the old citizens of this city. He began his newspaper career in this city and was once Associate Editor with the late WILLIAM B. FIGURES in 1838. He left here for Nashville where he has since remained in the newspaper business. He died on the 17th in Nashville. May 9, 1873 Sudden and unexpected death of MR. 0. D. SLEDGE, which sad event occurred Sat. A.M. MR. SLEDGE was one of the oldest citizens and most prominent merchants. As husband, father and friend, was ever loving and kind. Died in McMinnville (Marion Co.), Tenn, on 2nd inst. MRS. JENNIE WHITSON nee MISS JENNIE CHADWICK of this city. May 23, 1873 Married in Church of Nativity in this city on 19th inst. by REV. DR. BANISTER, MR. JAMES H? PATTON to MISS SALLIE K. WATKINS. Died on 18 April at residence in Macon, Miss, after a long and painful illness, MRS. ELIZA L. BOGUS (BOGGASS), formerly of this county. Kind and affectionate mother and true friend. May 30, 1873 Married May 22, 1873 at the residence of the bride's father by REV. H. P. TURNER, MR. JACOB VITTERNER to MISS MARY J. KIRKLAND, all of this county. June 5, 1873 Married in Church of Nativity in this city on 31st by REV DR. J. M. BANISTER, MR. H. P. HUFF of Va. to MISS MARY WOODSON WITHERS of this city. 263 - (3563)
