August 8, 1877 Funeral of G. J. DAWSON Wed. Aug. 8. Methodist Church. Married at the Methodist Church in Meridanville on 25 July by REV. Z. A. PARKER, MR. JAMES GRAHAM and MRS. ISSABELLA KINKLE. Died of congestive chill near Helena (or Bobbie), Ark. JOHN DEMENT BURRUS, son of LUCIEN and MATTIE BURRUS, formerly of Madison Co. Ala. August 15, 1877 Last Sat. evening HIRAM HUTTON and his son were drowned in a well, which they were engaged to dig. Died at her residence in Big Cove on 10 Aug. of typhoid fever, MRS. NANCY (AGNES in some rec) BROWN (d of RICHD HOLUGES), widow of the late JOHN P. BROWN in her 79th yr. August 22, 1877 Died at his residence in this city Sunday evening the 19th, MR. THURSTON LUMPKIN, one of the oldest citizens of Huntsville aged about 70 years. He was, we believe, bom in Richmond, Va. August 29, 1877 Married in this city on Wed. last, the 22nd, DR. J. M. BUCKHANAN of Scottsboro to MISS MARY DYER. Died in this city on 24 Aug. MISS ELIZA W. STEELE, daughter of COL. MATT. W. and MRS. CATHARINE E. STEELE aged 24. Presbyterian. Died on Mon. eve. last the 27th at his home in this place, MR. JOHN O'KEEFE, an old citizen aged about 50. For many years has been employed by M. & C.R.R. as car inspector at this place. September 5, 1877 Died in this city Sat. the 1st, MILO, infant son of MR. and MRS. ROBERT C. SMITH. WILLIAM H (S?) McCALLEY died Sat. eve. last aged about 60. Native of Spotsylvania Co. Va. Funeral took place at Methodist church. September 26, 1877 MISS MARY COOPER, an estimable young lady living in Gadsden fell dead while sitting in a chair Sat. of last week. MRS. KATE T. BARHAM, wife of MR. THOMAS M. BARHAM died at the residence of her mother, MRS. JOLLY in this city on 20th. Leaves a husband and two children. Married in this city Mon. morning last, 24th Sept, by ROBERT W. FIGG, Esq. CAPT. THEOPHILAS F. HAYNES and MISS EMME A. HIRSHBRUNER, all of Huntsville. October 3, 1877 MAJ. JAMES ROBINSON, one of the oldest and most esteemed citizens of Huntsville as well as one of the oldest and ablest members of the Bar is dead. Passed away yesterday morning 2nd Oct. at 8 o'clock in his 72nd year. Native of Tenn, having been bom we believe near Sparta (White Co.), but had been a citizen of Ala. nearly all his life. October 10 1877 MISS MARY SUE WINSTON, daughter of STEPHEN P. WINSTON of Tex, and niece of MR. and MRS. JAS. L. COOPER of this city died in Tuscumbia one day last week. Resolutions on death of MAJ. JAMES ROBINSON by Mayor and Aiderman of Huntsville. States he was born near Sparta, White Co., Tenn, in 1805. Emigrated to Huntsville at an early period. Also resolutions by Huntsville Bar. October 17, 1877 Married in Huntsville on Oct. 15 by REV. W. FRANKLIN KONE, COL. EDMOND EPPS of Memphis, Tenn, to MRS. TENNESSEE DUPREE of Huntsville. BENJAMIN F. McCRAVEY, an old citizen of Huntsville died very suddenly on morning of 13th. On evening of same day, 0. H. BENJAMIN, who was serving as night policeman also fell dead in beer saloon of WM. STRUVE. Middle aged man of quiet, unobtrusive manners. Leaves wife and several children. 274 - (3574)
