June 13, 1837 Married, on 4th instant by SAMUEL EVANS, Esq., MR. REUBEN IRVIN to MISS HANNAH, daughter of MR. WILLIAM MAPLES, all of Jackson Co. Died in this place on the 5th instant, MRS. .WILLIAM STREET, wife of MR. WILLIAM STREET, in the 44th year of her age. Died, in Mardisville, Alabama on the 23rd of May last MRS. MARY McLEOD, wife of GEORGE McLEOD Esq. formerly of this county but now a resident of the above place. Marshall County: Sheriff, P. M. BUSH, will, sell property of MARIAH L. CHEEK; JAMES BOGGESS, JOHN C. JOHNSON, EDMOND BRIDGES. June 27, 1837 Died, on Sunday the 11th instant JAMES M. McFARLANE, merchant, of Claysville, Marshall County. "On the Sunday of his death he went in company with several of his friends for the purpose of acting as mediator between opposing claimants to a valuable improvement in the Cherokee Country. He thought he had affected his object of peace and kindness when he was suddnely and cruelly shot by one of the contending parties and died almost immediately. Editors of the Knoxville Register and the Richmond Va. papers will please insert the above. Runaway slave from J. L. COLBORN of Lincoln County, Tennessee see (Prospect Hill). July 4, 1837 Marshall County: Sheriff to sell property of NATHANIEL STEELE. Married, on Tuesday evening last MR. WILLIAM H. CLOPTON to MISS MINERVA C. daughter of WILLIAM E. PHILLIPS, Esq. of this place. See our Vol. 141 p. 39. Departed this life on Sat. 24th of June, MARTHA ELIZA, daughter of MR. WILLIAM BAKER of this county, in her 4th year. Blount County: CALEB MURPHREE administrator of JESSE BYNUM. Marshall County: W. W. McFARLANE, administrator of JAMES McFARLANE. Runaway slave from ADAM BELL, ten miles east of Pulaski, Giles County, Tennessee. July 11, 1837 Letter from BENJAMIN TANNER; "sometime before my departure for the south." Married, at Claysville on Thursday the 29th of June by LOUIS WYETH Esq., WILLIAM N. MORGAN, M.D. to MISS MARY, daughter of WILLIAM WELLBORN, Esq. all of Marshall County. Departed this life after a distressing illness of four weeks, on the 3rd instant, at the residence of his son JOHN G. BENTLEY in Madison County, Ala. COL. EFFORD BENTLEY in the 78th year of his age*, formerly of Amelia County, Virginia in his very boyhood he entered into the military service of his country, during our revolutionary struggle; on which subject he dwelt with more than ordinary interest...he has left a companion, eight children, and a numerous circle of relations^..
