Departed this life on the 25th instant infant daughter and only child of ANDREW J. and SARAH E. RICE. August 8, 1837 Limestone County; G. S. B. WILKINSON administrator of JOHN B. WILKINSON. Limestone County: Runaway slave from SAMUEL D. WHITE of Mooresville. August 15, 1837 Died in this place on the 5th instant MRS. MARY ANN GHORMLEY, consort of WILLIAM CORMLEY, after protracted illness. August 29, 1837 Married, in Tuscaloosa on Wednesday evening the 16th instant by the REV. MR. WILLIAMS, MR. JOHN B. READ of this place to MISS SUSAN W. CHILDRESS of Tuscaloosa. Died, on the... instant after a short illness MR. N. T. PACKARD, an old resident of this place. On the 23rd instant FRANCES, aged two years, daughter of MR. GEORGE LYNES (note: he was a carriage maker). Blount County. WILLIAM and G. W. COWDEN executors of ELIJAH COWDEN dec'd. Runaway slave from WILLIAM R. STANSELL of Pickens County. September 5, 1837 (Is dated August 29 outside but Sept. 5 inside, latter date correct) Chancery sale: Winchester, Tennessee. WALLACE ESTELL, administrator of RALPH CRABB dec'd. THOMAS G. CRABB and others, heirs of said CRABB, are complainants versus GEORGE W. and JOHN T. CRABB, defendants (see Centenniel History of Alleghany County, Virginia, 0. F. MORTON p. 200.) September 12, 1837 Died, at the home of JOSEPH RICE on the 28th ult. MRS. JANE BAYLES aged 76 years, consort of the late HEZEKIAH BAYLES. Their early attachement took place on the banks of the Potomac. For 56 years they enjoyed everything which promised a life without trouble, not only united in their earthly pursuits but lived united in the Baptist Church for fifty years... She lies by him she loved...(note: The name is not spelled BAYLESS. HEZEKIAH BAYLESS was a soldier of the Revolution, and drew a pension for his services) September 19, 1837 Died, at his residence in Mississippi on the 2.6th of August, WILLIAM HEWLETT late of this county, aged 29 years of a short illness of eight days, leaving an affectionate wife and three children (communicated) . September 26, 1837 Marshall County; WILLIAM GRIFFIN and J. 0. FEEMSTER, executor of JOHN GRIFFIN. October 3, 1837 Died on Friday the 1st instant at Hunter's Old Stand in Campbell County, MR.
