(Communicated) Departed this life on the 24th of May at the residence of her mother, in her 23rd year, MRS. ELIZABETH MALONE, consort of ALEXANDER MALONE... left affectionate husband and three children...attacked with that fatal disease, consumption, interred on the 25th in the family burying ground. Died at the residence of her father, MR. WILLIAM HUDSPETH in this county on the 12th ult. after an illness of 17 days, MRS. NANCY CATHERINE DERRICK in the 23rd year of her age. (Bellefonte Courier) Died at her residence in Pickens County, Ala. on the 10th of May last MRS. MARTHA SMITH, consort of COL. NATHAN SMITH, of a protracted illness. She was in the 46th year of her age, and thirty one years of that time a worthy member of the Baptist Church... left affectionate husband and finve children. LOUIS WYETH, candidate for the Legislature, Marshall Co. Morgan County. EDWARD WISE, executor of the will of JACOB ORR dec'd will make final settlement. Chancery Court: Blountsville, Ala. ARMSTRONG, Esq., MR. JAMES H. MOORE of Winchester, Tennessee to MISS MARY E. daughter of STEPHEN CARTER, Esq. of the vicinity of Bellefonte, Ala. Died, in Jackson County, Alabama on the 11th instant, MRS. SARAH C. RIACH, consort of the REV. CHARLES L. ROACH in the 28th year of her age...left husband and four small children. June 27, 1840 Democratic Meeting: at meeting of the citizens of New Market and its vicinity on the 19th instant GEORGE T. JONES, Esq., was called to the Chair, and GEN. B. M. LOWE and COL. ANTHONY H. METCALF appointed assistant chairman, GEORGE D. NORRIS secretary, JOHN C. THOMPSON, assistant secretary--resolutions opposing HARRISON--ABNER TATE, A. H. METCALF, GEORGE T. JONES, P. N. BOOKER, JOSEPH RICE, PETER C. WEBSTER, THOMAS V. PROVINCE, GEORGE ANDERSON, JOHN VINING, A. H. WEATHERLY, RANDOLPH SULLIVAN, JAMES McDAVID, ALLEN WALLS, JOSEPH TAYLOR and SAMUEL WALKER be appointed a committee to meet with such other committees as may be appointed in this county, to be styled Madison Democratic Committee. Distressing casualty: On Thursday last our town was thrown into an unusual degree of excitement by the accidental death of MR. JOHN H. WALPOLE. In company with MR. T. SCOTT he had rode out for the purpose of shooting squirrels and while passing alongside of a mountain among the rocks he was thrown from his horse, his gun discharged in the fall and shot him in the front part of the thigh and severed the demoral artery. He died in a few minutes. Had been for some years a resident of this place--left lady and five small children.
