Died at his residence in Tuscumbia on the 31st ult. MR. JAMES JACKSON (56 V), an old and highly esteemed citizen of this neighborhood. (Bible record says b in Middle Tenn 1802, d in Colbert Co. Ala. of heart failure 1862, aged 60) On Thursday the 31st ult. in Decatur, Ala., MRS. BURTON, consort of MR. ALLEN BURTON, aged about 50 years. February 20, 1861 Died, MRS. ELIZABETH J. MARTIN (26 A), wife of THOMAS W. MARTIN and daughter of J(OHN) B. HORTON. She was bom September 24, 1823, and when quite young attached herself to the Missionary Baptist Church at Triana. She was on the first day of February, 1842 united in marriage with THOMAS W. MARTIN--long afflicted with consumption--her only regret was leaving her husband, daughter and two little sons. On the 10th day of the present month she fell quietly asleep--died near Madison X Roads. In Somerville, Ala. on the 15th ult. ALFORD V. TARNEY (ALFORD F. TURNEY in census, 6 A; PLEASANT J.) aged 16 years. On the 8th instant WILLIAM B. BLACKBURN (33 V) of Morgan County. On the 27th ult. MRS. S. GIBSON wife of WILLIAM GIBSON of Marshall County. March 6, 1861 Married at the bride's residence by the REV. P. B. ROBINSON, MR. W. W. ALEXANDER of Fayetteville Tenn, to MRS. H(ILLA) H(INE) TOWNSEND of Madison County. At the residence of the bride's father HON. R. M. PATTON of Florence, Ala. on the 21st ult by the REV. DR. W. H. MITCHELL, J. J. McDAVID, Esq. of Huntsville. Ala. to MISS MARY J. PATTON. On the 21st ult by REV. J. G. WILSON, MR. W. H. EGGLESTON, of Tennessee to MISS M(ARY) C. BIBB (9 A), daughter of PORTER BIBB (36 A), Esq. of Limestone County, Ala. On the 19th ult. in Athens by REV. J. M. BANISTER, DR. JOHN W. WITHERS of Arkansas and MISS PATTY HAYWOOD of Limestone County. On the 18th of February by REV. R. M. HUMPHREY, J. D. DRAKE and MISS SARAH E. NICHOLSON of Limestone County. On the 28th ult. by REV. F. A. KIMBLE, MR. JAMES A. PICKARD (9T; HENRY J.) of this place and MISS ESTHER E. BOLDMAN of Knoxville. MRS. SELINA POE, relict of late WASHINGTON POE, at home of her dau. MRS. W. H. MOORE; b July, 1812 & was oldest citizen of Macon & Bibb Co. (Ga.) having moved here with her widowed mother, MRS. NORMAN & brother-in-law HON. OLIVER H. PRINCE who was appt by Reg. of 1822 to lay off Bibb Co. & city of Macon. 1st Presb Ch. 1825 m HON. WASHINGTON POE Dec. 1829 & was present at reception to GEN. LaFAYETTE. He was an orator, scholar. & an elder in Presb Ch. Bro-in-law MORTIMER H. WALLACE was 1st P/M of Bibb Co. MRS. POE had 10 chn--3 of whom survive her. OLIVER POE of Columbus, Ga., MRS. W. H. MOORE of Hs Ala, JUDGE W. A. POE of this city (Macon Telegraph) March 13, 1861 Married, on the 28th ult. in the city of Macon, Georgia by REV. MR. WILLS, COL. WILLIAM H. MOORE of this city to MISS MARY F. daughter of HON. WASHINGTON POE of Macon. Died, on the 9th instant, COL. JOHN READ (59 Va; t. says 1784-1861), suddenly, aged 76 years. On the 4th instant in Moulton, Ala. WILLIAM B. REED (30 T) aged 48 years. On the 24th ult. in Franklin, Ala. MRS. SARAH GARNER, wife of A. L. GARNER (43 SC). On the 9th instant after a long illness at the residence of COL. J. C. BRADLEY in this place MRS. JANE SANDERS wife of FRANCIS A. SANDERS of Memphis, Tenn. March 20, 1861 Married on the 14th instant by the REV. E. STRODE, MR. JAMES J. COLT of Athens, Georgia to MISS MINERVA M. NUCKOLLS (16 A), daughter of S(AM'L) 0. NUCKOLLS (46 V), Esq. of this county. On the 18th instant MR. ALBERT H. JONES of Arkansas to MISS SARAH J. (10 A), daughter of MR. JOHN M. ELDRIDGE (38 A) of this county. 368 - (3668)
