July 10, 1861 Married on the 1st instant in the Methodist Church in Russellville, Ala. by REV. J. D. BARBES, MR. L. C. ALLEN of Marion City to MISS MARTHA A. HARRIS of Franklin County. On the 24th ult. by ELDER G(ENNETT) A. MORRING, DR. A. C. STEPHENSON to MISS SARAH BENSON, all of Jackson County. On the 25th of June at the residence of the bride's father, MR. WILLIAM J. THOMPSON, by REV. WM. B. BLACKBURN, MR. JOHN R. BELL and MISS JOSEPHINE E. THOMPSON, all of the vicinity of Frankfort, Ala. Died on the 4th instant after a short illness WILLIAM WATKINS (old Free State says (1788-1859), Esq. aged about 62 years. He was a native of Georgia and had resided in Madison County from early manhood. Leaves many relatives. On the 29th ult. MR. JOHN N. MILLER an old and respected citizen of this place. July 17, 1861 Married on the 11th instant by REV. M. E. JOHNSTON, DR. ROBERT T. SEARCY of Fayetteville, Tenn, to MRS. CORNELIA J. HERRIFORD of Meridianville . Died on the 7th instant after a long illness, JOHN P. BROWN (59 V), Esq. aged about 72 years. August 14, 1861 Married on the 4th instant by A. W. HADEN, Esq. , MR. JONOTHAN WILLIAMS to MISS AILSEY KIRKPATRICK (10 A; JOS.), all of Jackson County. Died on the 10th instant, DR. H(OLBERT) S. DAVIS, a most exemplary and worthy citizen of this place, leaving hosts of friends to mourn his untimely death. February 11, 1874 (1875?) Died in this city Tuesday, GEORGE S. WILSON, a native of Chesterfield, England and since 1848 a resident of Huntsville, aged about 50. Died in this city Tuesday February 9, 1875 of pulmonary consumption, MRS. HATTIE M. IRBY, wife of MR. P. M. IRBY, aged about 38 years. February 25, 1874 (1875) Married in Mobile on the 26th inst. by REV. DR. J. A. MASSEY, MR. R. H. SMITH, JR., son of COL. ROBERT SMITH of Mobile and MISS ALICE A. MOORE of Mobile, daughter of the late COL. SYDENHAM MOORE of Eutaw (Greene Co.). March 11, 1874 (1875) Died on Friday March 5, 1875 MRS. LAURA RICE HELM, daughter of MR. JOHN PATTON and wife of MR. BLACKBURN, widow of the late FRANK BLACKBURN at an advanced age. April 1, 1874 (1875) Resolutions of Respect--Society at Bethlehelm Church on 28 March 1875 loss of late pastor and Brother, AMBROSE F(LEMING) BRISKILL. Died at Madison in this county Tuesday March 30, 1875, MRS. MOLLIE J. DRAPER, wife of DR. N. W. DRAPER. April 8, 1874 (1875) Obituary: MRS. MARTHA A. O'NEAL, wife of B. W. O'NEAL and daughter of DUDLEY and ANN SALE was born in Elbert County, Georgia March 4, 1815. Her father moved to Madison County, Alabama when she was quite young. She was married in 1838, professed religion in 1842 and united herself with the Methodist Episcopal Church. She moved with her family from Madison Co. Ala. to Milam County, Texas in the fall of 1872. Was confined to her bed with consumption. Left one brother and one sister, MRS. M. D. WANCE, a husband and 4 children. (Written by H. P. TURNER) 371 - (3671)
