He was born in Scotland and came to Alabama about 26 years ago. MRS. ELLEN N. WEAKLEY (42 IRE), widow of the late JAMES H. WEAKLEY (52 V) of Florence, Ala. and sister of the late JAMES I. DONEGAN of this city died of pneumonia at St. Cecelia Academy, Nashville, Tenn. March 30, 1883, aged 81 years. MRS. WEAKLEY was born in Cork, Ireland and came to the United States when about 18 years old, landing at Baltimore. Afterward she came to Alabama, and married Judge WEAKLEY, who died many years ago. She lived in Huntsville during the greater part of her widowhood but left here several years ago to reside in Nashville better to enjoy the religious privileges of the Roman Catholic Church. MRS. MATILDA C. FLETCHER, (38 V) widow of the late JAMES N. FLETCHER (62 V) died at her home near Madison, Ala. on Sunday April 1, 1883 aged about 75 years. MRS. FLETCHER was born in Chesterfield County, Virginia in 1808, married in Manchester, Virginia in 1826 and came to Madison County, Ala. in 1833. Before and after her husband's death her home was the happy abode of a large family.... Methodist Episcopal Church of which she was a devoted member 50 years...leaves a large family of children, grandchildren, other kindred and many friends. MRS. MARTHA H(ARVIE) BONE (48 G), relict of the late REV. MATTHEW H. BONE (48 K) of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church died at her home in Madison County, Ala. April 3, 1883 in the 81st year of her age. April 11, 1883 MR. THOS. N. MARTIN (36 A) died April 3, 1883 at his residence at Madison X Roads, Ala. in his 69th year. 'SQUIRE MARTIN was bom in Madison County Nov. 20, 1814. He was a good and useful citizen, a prominent man in his neighborhood, esteemed for his blunt honesty of speech and integrity of conduct, kindness and hospitality to friends, and devoted affection to his family. He was for many years a Justice of the Peace, and also post master at Madison X Roads. May he rest in peace and rise in glory. April 18 1883 REV. FREDERICK A. ROSE died of pneumonia at his residence in Huntsville, April 13, 1883, aged 86 on December 25, 1882. DR. ROSS was a native of Virginia, and educated at the Moravian School at Nazareth, Pa. and at Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pa. and entered the ministry of the Presbyterian Church when about 28 years old...he began his ministerial life in Southwestern Va. and remained there until about 1853/4, was then called to a church in Chattanooga, remained there a year or two, then accepted a call to the church in Huntsville, and remained in its charge about 20 years. His family has our sincere sympathy in their bereavement of devoted husband and father. April 25, 1883 Married in the City of New York at the residence of the bride's father, MR. HORACE E. GARTH by REV. D. HALL, MR. WINSTON F. GARTH of Huntsville to MISS LENE GARTH. In Opelika, Ala. April 10, 1883 REV. DR. ANSON WEST of the North Ala. Conference to MRS. Z. A. SWEARENGEN. MRS. ELIZA BRANDON SEELYE (7 A; MARY J.), after a long illness died at the residence of her brother CAPT. JOHN D. BRANDON (14 A) in Huntsville, Ala. April 19, 1883 aged about 50 years. MRS. SEELYE was a dutiful and affectionate daughter, sister, wife and mother...member Methodist Church. MRS. ABBY E(MMA) SPENCE (30 NJ), widow of the late WILLIAM SPENCE (35 V), died after a few days illness at her residence in Huntsville, Apr. 24, 1883 at an advanced age. Methodist. MRS. (MARIA) FRANCES BAILEY (26 A), widow of the late JOSEPH BAILEY (31 MISS (F.)) died at her residence on the Huntsville & Whitesburg turnpike April 20, 1883. Methodist. May 9, 1883 MRS. CHERILL B. VAN DE VENTER, wife of DR. JOHN VAN DE VENTER died at the residence in Huntsville Friday night, May 4, 1883...she was faithful in loving ministrations to husband, children and friends... member of the Presbyterian Church. 382 - (3682)
