May 30, 1883 MRS. ELIZABETH KELLY (48 SC), widow of the late HAMPTON W. KELLY (40 G) and mother of J. W. POLK KELLY of Huntsville died at the residence of her son in law PETER SIMMONS at Hazel Green, Ala. May 25, in her 84th year. She was a Christian in the Baptist Church. Her remains were buried in our City Cemetery on Sunday last. June 6, 1883 MRS. EMILY JOHNSON, widow of DR. JAMES T. JOHNSON dec'd, died May 29, 1883 at the residence of her daughter MRS. WILLIAM RICHARDSON, in Frederick, Md. MRS. MAHALA WINSTON, wife of MR. ISAAC N. WINSTON died May 20, 1883 at Bell Factory Ala. aged about 57 years. MRS. WINSTON was a most exemplary wife and mother and a Christian in the communion of the Methodist Church. June 13, 1883 MR. REAVIS J. TERRY of Birmingham and MISS LENI L. ELLIOTT of Huntsville were married by REV. J. A. B. LOVETT in this city May 12, 1883. MRS. MARY MORRIS who was, perhaps, the oldest person in Jackson County, died at the residence of her son in law WM. POTTER in Maynard's Cove on the 21st day of May last at the age of 96 years. She had been married 76 years, and a member of the Baptist Church 76 years. Her youngest daughter, wife of WM. POTTER, is 51 years of age. The deceased, it is said, told her daughter and the family of MR. POTTER about 15 days before she died that an angel had appeared to her and informed her she would died on the 20th or 21st of May at furtherest. (Scottsboro Herald.) June 27, 1883 LARKIN A. WORTHAM (A is right; H. in census; 23 T; WM. H.) died at his home in Maysville, Ala. June 25, 1883. Methodist. LOGAN B. REEDY (6 A; JOHN A.) died in Huntsville June 25, 1883. MR. REEDY was a native of Huntsville, and went to Texas 7 or 8 years ago. A few weeks ago he returned to his mother's in this city with a chronic complaint of which he died. We condole with his family in their loss, especially with his two little fatherless and motherless children. July 18, 1883 MRS. MARY WOODSON HUFF (10 A), wife of HENRY P. HUFF and daughter of the late AUGUSTINE J. WITHERS (44 V) died of heart disease at Salem, Va. July 23 (13?), 1883, aged about 42 years. MRS. HUFF was bom and brought up in Madison County, member of the Episcopal Church... remains brought to Huntsville and deposited in the city cemetery. We are grieved to learn that our old friend JOHN C. BRAHAN died last week at Como (Panola Co.), Miss... earnest Christian in the Episcopal Church. He was a son of GEN. JOHN BRAHAN, one of the earliest settlers of Huntsville, brother of MRS. PATTON, wife of GOV. PATTON, and uncle of MRS. JOHN D. WEEDEN and MRS. J. J. McDAVID... devoted husband and father.
