of man being eighty years of age. He was a man noted for many of the noblest traits. MR. CLAY had acquired a large estate and was one of the wealthiest citizens of Jackson County. He leaves a widow, three married daughters and an only son, MR. M(ARTIN) A. CLAY (5 in Alabama). MRS. CLAY is far advanced in years and in very feeble health. Rep. MR. E. E. KEY and family leave today for Manor, Texas, where he will make his future home. December 16, 1885 Talladega, December 9. The community was saddened by the death of MRS. TAUL BRADFORD yesterday. She was a sister of the late JAMES T. HARDIE of Montgomery. MR. THOMAS DAVIS, a most excellent citizen, died yesterday at the residence of his daughter, MRS. H. B. HARTZ. In Memoriam. MRS. ADDIE TATE RICE, wife of our brother DR. FRANCISCO RICE, born March 25, 1838, died October 30, 1885. They were married March 25, 1860 and eight children were born to them. Five survive her. GRAYSON, a devoted member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The next death was MRS. PARLIE MOON whose maiden name was BRAZELTON. (note--PARALEE MOON elsewhere.) MRS. S. D. PICKENS was with us a few days last week. The sun always shines when she is with us. She is very old, 82, but full of life and religion. NEW SOUTH 1885 January 10, 1885 Died two miles east of New Hope at the residence of his father J. A. F. VANN on January 3, WALTER A. VANN, bom August 8, 1858. An affectionate husband, kind to his parents and forgiving to his brothers and sisters. Died in this city January 5, LOUIS LUCET, for many years Professor of French in the schools here. February 14 1885 Died, WILLIAM G. (BARLOW) BRADLEY at Mt. Adams, Arkansas. The deceased leaves a wife and three children; he was bom and raised here. Died, DR. DAVID SHELBY at his residence in Huntsville Saturday in his 71st year. February 21, 1885 Died at Athens 16th February 1885 MRS. ELIZABETH COLEMAN, relict of JUDGE DANIEL COLEMAN. She was born in Northampton County, North Carolina May 22, 1811. In the death of this grand and noble old lady the country has lost another of those magnificent women who belong to a generation which is nearly extinct, and which were noted for their motherly wisdom, their womanhood, and nobility of character. We extend sympathy to her stricken sons and daughters. February 28, 1885 MR. JO PARTON, now a citizen of Waco, Texas, is on a visit to Huntsville. Died, MR. WILLIAM MARTIN, an old and highly respected citizen of Limestone County, in Mooresville last week. 390 - (3690)
