After a brief illness, MRS. ALICE VAN VALKENBURG _YAN departed this life yesterday morning...a loving young wife and gentle mother. (Left) husband and four little children. January 28 1891 MRS. SARAH J. HUBERT, widow of the late GEORGE HUBERT, received from the Knights of Pythias, $2000 insurance. (Death certificate, GEORGE HUBERT, aged 45 born in Tennessee died in Huntsville December 15, 1890, of a railroad accident. Married.) Resolutions of Respect on the death of GEORGE HUBERT by Huntsville Post #3, G. A. R. signed by W. C. WELLS and ED. E. GREENLEAF. On Monday night at his residence on Walker Street MR. THOMAS B. WINSTON departed this life, from double pneumonia. The deceased gentleman was universally known and highly esteemed by the entire community. Funeral services will be held at the Methodist Church this morning. (Death certificate: THOMAS B. WINSTON, born in Alabama, aged 64, died Huntsville January 6, 1891, married.) February 4, 1891 MR. PERCY DARWIN editor of a newspaper at Gainsville, Texas, is on a visit to relatives, guest of DR. JAMES L. DARWIN. Died near New Hope, January 24, 1891, MISS CALLIE HAMER, born February 26, 1841.... J. C. HUNKAPILLAR. (He was a minister. KPJ) New Market. At 4 o'clock yesterday MR. JOSEPH WALKER died of pneumonia. He leaves a large family, and a circle of friends and relatives to mourn his sudden death. MR. and MRS. DAN POWELL of Cluttsville Precinct left yesterday for Gainesville, Texas where they will make their future home. MRS. ALEX JOHNSON and granddaughter MISS MAY TALBOT have returned home after spending several weeks at Scottsboro, guests of MR. ROBERT HAMLET and family. MRS. CORA ROLFE, wife of W. T. ROLFE, was bom at McMinnville, Tennessee January 13, 1854, married at Bell Factory June 16, 1872, and died of pneumonia February 4, 1891. (by Her Pastor, V. L. HERRING.) February 11, 1891 Resolutions of Respect. JOSEPH R. WALKER, born February 2, 1850, and happily married to MISS MARY D. SLOAN in early manhood. They were blessed with seven children, who with their mother, are left to mourn their loss. He was a consistent member of the Locust Grove Baptist Church. Order of Prayer Meeting and Sabbath School, at Rice's School House. BETTIE POWER, ELLA FANNING, NANNIE SMITH and NELLIE JONES, Committee. News reached the city yesterday of the death at his home near Deposit of MR. WILLIAM W. McCRARY, a highly esteemed and worthy gentleman , of pneumonia. The remains of MRS. WILLIAM JONES, sister of DR. FRANCISCO RICE of New Market, arrived in the city from Tuscaloosa early in the morning and left on the Eldro train for New Market where they will be interred. She had been in Tuscaloosa about a month. (WM. R. JONES married January 21, 1852 GILLIANN RICE). February 18, 1891 MRS. _LLIE DUNNINGTON, wife of MR. L. H. DUNNINGTON, died at her residence on Washington Street after a prolonged illness... devoted wife and mother. Scottsboro. MR. P(ETER) GULLATT, a highly respectable citizen of near Bellefonte was killed by a falling tree Monday. Death of our oldest citizen. Yesterday the soul of MR. JAMES SCOTT winged its flight...MR. SCOTT resided in Huntsville all his life, and at the time of his death lacked but a few months of being 92 years of age. He was probably the oldest citizen of the county. The funeral will be held at the Methodist Church this afternoon. (Note: he evidently came as a child...there were no white people here until at least 1804. Death certificate gives: JAMES G. SCOTT, born in Virginia, aged 91 years 9 months 7 days, died in Huntsville February 17, 1891. Married.) 398 - (3698)
