His companion in life (was) MARY D. SLOAN whom he married March 3, 1871...God gave seven children who survived their father. A telegram from Memphis yesterday morning announced the death of MRS. J. C. FAVER nee MISS MARY NEELY formerly of this city. The remains reached the city this morning and will be interred in the City Cemetery today. April 1 1891 MRS. STERLING LANIER of Birmingham (is visiting) her father's family, DR. J. M. BANISTER. The funeral of MRS. W. C. FAVOR of Memphis was held at the residence of W. T. HUTCHENS. The community sympathizes with the husband, mother and sister of the deceased. MRS. MARY W. FRANKS, wife of City Marshall BRITTAIN FRANKS died at the residence of her husband on Green Street Friday morning. MRS. FRANKS was an aged lady and had been in feeble health several years. MR. and MRS. FRANKS married in November 1832. The Mercury extends sympathy to her husband and other relatives. (Death Certificate says aged 79, born in Georgia. MARY W. FRANKS.) April 8 1891 MRS. JOE MACON, nee MISS RICE, daughter of DR. FRANCISCO RICE, of New Market, who lives at her father-in-laws DR. J. S. MACON near Bell Factory, was accidentally shot in the face by a pistol which was under the pillow of her bed; as she removed the bed clothing it dropped to the floor and discharged... a frightful but not a dangerous wound. NANCY MARTIN, wife of GEORGE W. MARTIN and mother of MR. BERRY L. MARTIN (the agent), attempted to cross the track in front of an approaching locomotive... injuries feared may prove fatal. Dies of her injuries. It is with profound regret we chronicle the demise of MRS. NANCY MARTIN in Madison Friday night. She leaves an aged husband and a large family of grown children. She leaves three daughters and two sons, three brothers and a sister. The funeral will take place from the Presbyterian Church tomorrow afternoon, conducted by DR. J. H. BRYSON. Gretna Green. A telegram from Fayetteville, Tennessee announces the marriage in that city of MR. FRANK DAY of Baltimore to MISS LILLIE SPENCE of this city, eldest daughter of MRS. SUE SPENCE. The groom and his father will open a music store in this city. Whitesburg. MRS. P. C. JOINER, after a long illness, died last Tuesday leaving a husband and two little children. Her remains were laid to rest in the old burial ground near this burg. (Ebenezer Church? If so, stone not found. Death Certificate: MRS. P. C.
