MRS. MALINDA SISK (39 in North Carolina), an aged lady of probably 85 years, died Thursday at the residence of her daughter, MRS. REUBEN STREET. Died at the residence of HON. MILTON HUMES in this city on the morning of the 24th of April, 1891, REUBEN CHAPMAN in his 33rd year, native of this place, a worthy son of his distinguished father, GOV. REUBEN CHAPMAN. His mother was MISS PICKETT. (also another account, in the same paper says "a few months ago" he led to the altar MISS ROSA SHEFFEY, the sweet companion of his life...the young wife and mother is left bereft. Reuben was the only male representative of an illustrious family. He (has been) taken from a loving wife, three little children, devoted sisters and admiring friends.) May 6, 1891 Died at Decatur, Wednesday April 29th, MRS. REBECCA HUGHES, wife of MR. JOHN HUGHES, formerly of this city, aged 40. Remains brought to this city for burial. The Mercury extends sympathy to her husband and little son. New Market. MR. J. N. KENNEDY, an estimable citizen and good farmer, about 60 years of age, died of heart failure while smoking his pipe before breakfast. MR. JOHN ROBINSON of Hurricane died of consumption. MRS. ELLA (ELIN in 1850) DARNABY (44 in North Carolina), aged 84, came overland in a buggy 30 miles last week to spend a short time with her daughter, and did not complain of fatigue...is as vigorous as she was ten years ago. (This was also in the New Market notes.) MR. G. H. BERRY of the firm of BERRY & WALKER, died at New Market yesterday. He has been ill several months at the residence of his father-in-law, MR. G. L. TERRY... consumption. Will be buried in New Market Thursday morning. May 12, 1891 Our community was shocked Thursday evening when it became known MR. T. B. HENRY, son-in-law of MRS. SUE SPRAGUE, had passed suddenly away, only being ill a few hours. MR. HENRY has been a resident of this city a year or two, moving here from Guntersville. Resolutions of Respect. T. B. HENRY, Madison Lodge #25, I.O.O.F. May 27, 1891 MR. and MRS. NEWTON BURDINE will celebrate their golden wedding at their home in the neighborhood of Hazel Green today. MR. BURDINE lives within fourteen miles of this city but has not made a visit to town since 1861. City Marshall BRITTAN FRANKS will leave for Florence today to visit his sister at that place. June 3, 1891 News reached the city yesterday of the death near Paris, Texas, of MR. BALDRIDGE, the venerable father of our townsmen DR. M. C. and CAPT. W. F. BALDRIDGE. The deceased lived to be quite an aged gentleman, and was held in high esteem by all acquaintances. Married last Thursday evening at the residence of the bride's parents, MR. and MRS. WM. J. KELLY, MR. MARSHALL CARR to MISS ADA KELLY. REV. R. T. BENTLEY, of Spring Garden, Cherokee County, is a guest of his brother A. J. BENTLEY, Esq., Holmes Street. MR. MORGAN FARISS arrived in the city from Texas yesterday, on a visit to his mother. MR. JAMES PHELPS of Jackson, Mississippi is a guest of MR. SMITH CERTAIN, he was in the past a resident of Huntsville and this is his first visit in fifteen or twenty years. New Market: MRS. MARY MACON...was cut riding this week. With hearts of gratitude, we welcome her back to her large circle of relatives and friends. June 10, 1891 MRS. MILDRED JAMAR, daughter of MRS.
