ABERCROMBIE; (was lying in wait for a chicken thief and mistook the Colonel for the prowler.) The remains were carried to Tuskeegee, his former home, for interment. (tombstone: born September 17(7), 1838, died June 8, 1881) July 1, 1891 OSCAR STRONG, aged 19, killed by lightning... son of THOMAS R. STRONG. July 15, 1891 MR. CHARLES M. FENNELL died suddenly at Woodville. He was a brother of MRS. GEORGE F. SCRUGGS. MR. FENNELL recently resided at Bessemer, but he and his family have been in Huntsville for several weeks, visiting relatives. A day or so before his death he went to Woodville on business; found dead in bed. Supposed to have been heart failure (complained the night before of pains.) The remains were brought to this city and interred in the Cemetery Monday. The News reached the city last evening of the death of MR. TOM CAWTHORN (43 in Tennessee) at his home near Maysville last Friday. MR. CAWTHORN was about 80 years of age. The deceased was a good man and had a legion of friends who will regret to hear of his death. DR. HUMPHREY received a telegram announcing the death of EDIE HUMPHREY at Aspen, Colorado on the threshold of manhood. Buried in Mt. Olivet, Nashville. (mentions friend in this city, his former home.) In Memoriam. CHARLES MARIAN FENNALL. Another wife lost her husband, another little son was~Eereft of his father. He died at Woodville, Alabama July 12, 1891, born March 7, 1855 at Belle Fonte, Jackson County, Alabama, married November 28, 1879 to MISS SUSIE H. HOBBS. Funeral services were conducted by REV. J. D. SIMPSON at the home of his brother-in-law, MR. GEORGE F. SCRUGGS. A Friend. MR. CRANSTON NASH, pharmacist at the drug store of MR. JOHN L. RISON, received a telegram from Parkersburg, West Virginia bearing the sad intelligence of the sudden death of his father at that place yesterday. (See "HARRIS and Allied Families.") MR. JAMES McGAHA, formerly of this place but for 18 months of Texas, is visiting relatives and friends. July 22 1891 Whitesburg. MRS. MATTIE LOGAN of Corinth, Mississippi is visiting relatives in the Green Grove community. MRS. WALLACE JAMAR of Corinth, Mississippi is visiting her parents, DR. and MRS. J. W. MORTON. MR. THOMAS DRAKE of Fourth Alabama fame and MISS SALLIE and MASTER RICHARD were visiting relatives in the community Sunday. MRS. NARCISSA COBB of Argenta, Arkansas is visiting relatives. July 29, 1891 The remains of MRS. SALLIE DILLARD, wife of MR. JAMES Q. DILLARD, were laid to rest in the Triana Cemetery Monday afternoon. The deceased was a beloved sister of the MESSRS. HALSEY of this city. News of the death of MRS. MARIA KINKLE, which occurred at Scottsboro last Sabbath evening aroused much tender sympathy in our city. MRS. KINKLE was an old woman, 92 years of age. She was one of the pioneers of our land, and no one ever lived and died in Huntsville who was worth of greater honors than this grand old lady. MRS. KINKLE leaves many descendants who have loved and cherished her throughout the infirmities of all her old age. She also leaves an entire community who honored and esteemed her for her many noble characteristics, but not least in a long life of usefulness nearly entirely spent in our city she leaves a name and character above reproach, one that is honored and respected by everyone. July 29, 1891 News was received in Huntsville yesterday of the death in Clarksdale, Mississippi of MR. WILEY P. DRAKE, a former citizen of this county, which occurred at that place early yesterday. MR. WILLIAM SCHAFER died at his home on Arms Street yesterday. MR. SCHAFER had been a resident of Huntsville for a long time; he was 402 - (3702)
