an industrious shoemaker and a quiet, clever citizen. He had been married twice, and by the second wife who survives him, two children had blessed their union. The death of the first wife left him with three children, he leaving behind five children and a devoted mate. August 12, 1891 The sad tidings of the death of DR. J. J. DEMENT flashed over the wires from Lithia Springs, Georgia where he died suddenly from heart failure. As a physician, DR. DEMENT stood at the head of his profession; he was a man of brains, a careful, a prudent and safe thinker, a man whose intelligence was impressive. As a husband and father he was generous, tender and loving. When the war cry sounded through our land, DR. DEMENT responded and for four years nursed the wounded and dying. Huntsville feels her loss...every household weeps .... Death of an Honorable and Beloved Citizen. The many friends of JUDGE WILLIAM H. MOORE were pained to learn last Friday evening of the death of this honorable and honored gentleman, which occurred at his residence near the city about six o'clock.... The deceased was in his 69th year and was a man who filled responsible positions, and who possessed the confidence and esteem of all who knew him. JUDGE MOORE was elected a member of the Board of the Huntsville Female College in the year 1850 and held that position up to his death. He was a man whom everyone liked. EDWARD MOORE returned last night to his Mississippi home, having been called to this city on the death of his father, JUDGE WM. H. MOORE. Memorial. MR. GEORGE EMORY HUNT, born May 15, 1825, died August 2, 1891. He was a man of many excellent qualities of character: he was a true husband, an indulgent parent, a man and a citizen above reproach, and a lover of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He professed religion in early life and joined the Baptist Church...(consumption)... He leaves a wife and eight children. He was laid to rest in the Neil Chapel Cemetery. In Memoriam. MRS. SALLIE H. DILLARD, wife of JAMES Q. DILLARD, died in the village of Triana July 26, 1891...she had long been a faithful member of the Methodist Episcopal Church South. She was a faithful wife, fond and affectionate mother and true and steadfast friend. (1/2 a column.) Triana, August 8, 1891. MR. HARRIS TONEY left for Hot Springs, Arkansas where he will visit COL. and MRS. RUGG. MRS. RUGG is a sister of MR. TONEY. REV. G. L. HERRING, one of our promising young ministers of the Hazel Green Circuit has been visiting his aunt, MRS. McINTOSH. MR. JOHN WITHERS, formerly of Mooresville, but now of Arkansas has been visiting his uncles, WILLIE and CHARLES COLLIER. August 19, 1891 Resolutions of Respect. Monrovia Alliance, on the death of W. H. BAUGHER, July 27th. CAPT. HARRY H. ESTES of Heningway, Mississippi is on a visit to his mother at the home of B. F. LUDWIG. August 24, 1891 We learned last evening of the death yesterday of MR. ALFRED HAMBRICK at his home near Maysville. MR. HAMBRICK was 78 years old and had been ill with slow fever for some time. He was buried in the burying ground of that place today was surely a confusion of names; ALFRED HAMBRICK, BRADFORD HAMBRICK's brother and the only one of that generation of that name, died in 1883. (Death Certificate shows BRADFORD HAMBRICK, aged 78, born in Alabama, died August 25, 1891, Maysville...married.) September 2, 1891 Died at New Market. Last Monday at her residence one and a half miles east of New Market, MRS. LOUISA C. HAMBRICK breathed her last. She was 76 years of age and greatly beloved for her many noble qualities.
