November 18, 1891 Died at Shelby, North Carolina Sunday November 15, 1891, MR. CHRISTIAN FROMM, aged 63. The deceased formerly resided in this city and was the father of MRS. ROSE DAHN, wife of MR. HENRY DAHN of Huntsville. December 9, 1891 Sunday night, CAPT. JOHN D. BRANDON, who has been a sufferer from illness several months, passed quietly away at his home on East Holmes Street. CAPT. BRANDON was born in this city December 18, 1837, the youngest of a family of two sons and three daughters. At the age of 15 the deceased accompanied his mother to St. Louis; he took a law course, graduated at Cumberland University and returned to St. Louis but in 1859 he came to Huntsville. In April 1861 he enlisted as a private in Company I, 4th Alabama and served to the close of the war. After the First Battle of Manassas he was promoted from the ranks 2 Second Lieutenant and in April 1862 was advanced to Captain. CAPTAIN BRANDON married in 1863 MRS. ROSALIE C. CHRISTIAN, daughter of DR. JOHN D. CALDWELL. His wife died in 1869 leaving only one child, a daughter. Methodist, Knight of Pythias, Knight of Honor. Last Wednesday afternoon MRS. ISABELLA BRADLEY, relict of the late JOSEPH C. BRADLEY, quietly passed away, surrounded by her loving children and friends. (1/5 column) December 16 1891 Whitesburg. MRS. BETSEY GIBSON, nearing her 90th year, lives with her son-in-law MR. THOMAS MAN in the southeast part of the County, post office Bell, Alabama. JAKE FRANKS son of our worthy City Marshall is quite ill. (Consumption. His father was BRITTAIN FRANKS.) CAPT. WILLIAM CLARK is hopelessly ill at the residence of his sister MR. JOE BRADLEY. CAPT. CLARK has for some time been engaged in planting, in Mississippi. He came here last week, very ill, in care of his son DICK CLARK of Memphis. His daughter MRS. HASKELL of Atlanta is at his bedside. CAPT. CLARK is uncle of City Clerk ED. I. MASTIN. Later, CAPT. WILLIAM CLARK died at 3 a.m. Deceased was about 62 years of age. He served with distinguished gallantry in the 17th Tennessee, GOV. MARKS' troops, during the late war. MR. JAMES T. SKELTON. We are sorry to chronicle the death of this leading citizen and merchant of Scottsboro, which occurred at his home on the 24th of December. MR. SKELTON was born in this county on the 16th of September 1829. Notice. My son W. R. VAN VALKENBURG is admitted as a partner in the Hardware and Implement Business. J. VAN VALKENBURG.
