January 13, 1892 Died, MRS. MARGARET McCLUNG, aged widow of the lamented COL. JAMES W. McCLUNG, who, during his life, filled a number of high positions and offices within the gift of the people of his native county and State. He was a lifelong resident of Madison County. (Note: He was from East Tennessee. KPJ) January 20, 1892 Resolutions of Respect by the City Council, on the death of City Marshall BRITTON FRANKS (41 in Tennessee). (Death Record: BRITTON FRANKS, aged 84, born in Tennessee, City Marshall, died in Huntsville December 27, 1891. Widower.) Yesterday morning at 5 o'clock at the residence of MR. ROBERT S. LANDMAN, MRS. JANE STEELE, relict of MR. JAMES W. STEELE, passed away. The deceased came to this city with her husband in 1853. Funeral services will take place this afternoon at the Baptist Church. January 27, 1892 Died Sunday last at the residence of his uncle, MR. JOHN S. NANCE, Adams Avenue, HENRY S. PICKETT, aged about 23, second son of MR. STEPTOE PICKETT, a resident of Madison till his death. He was a loving son, a source of comfort and joy to his widowed mother. Died, MR. J. LAWRENCE WATKINS Sunday, at the residence of his nephew, MR. S. W. HARRIS. MR. WATKINS was in his 78th year. With regret the Mercury notes the death of MR. GEORGE WILLIAM CAIN. MR. CAIN was bom and reared in Limestone, County, Alabama, a gallant soldier, a useful and prominent citizen, and at the time of his death a candidate for the Probate Judgeship of Limestone County. Married, yesterday afternoon at the home of the bride, MR. J. W. COYLE of Molly Springs, Mississippi to MISS FANNIE M. STRONG of New Market. February 3, 1892 The remains of the late WILLIS P. WOODALL (were brought to) this city from New Market and interred in the City Cemetery. (Death Record: WILLIS P. WOODALL, aged 70, bom in Alabama, died January 29, 1892 at New Market. Married. Note: the widow was a second wife.) Whitesburg. MRS. JOHN TRAVIS died at the residence of her husband in the McDONALD settlement in this county, January 21, aged 45, and was buried in the family burying ground in the Green Grove community; her husband and daughters have the sympathy of friends. Died, on Sunday last at his residence near Green Grove, MR. RICHARD A. JAMAR, 88 years of age and brother of the late THOMAS JAMAR. His remains were brought to this city and interred yesterday. Another aged and good citizen, MR. SAMUEL J. PETTUS, died at his home in Rep Saturday. He was over 80 years of age, and uncle of MR. R. E. PETTUS. The deceased came to this county from Virginia when but a young boy. February 10, 1892 News reached the city yesterday of the death of MISS ELLEN HUNT in St. Louis (following a surgical operation.) Burial will take place this afternoon, REV. J. H. BANISTER officiating. In Memoriam. MRS. E. TRAVIS, nee WOODWARD, was born near Whitesburg, Alabama January 3, 1843, married JOHN W. TRAVIS January 3, 1867 and died near McDONNELL's Chapel January 21, 1892. Wilson's Chapel Church has lost a faithful member, her husband a devoted wife, her daughters a loving mother, her brothers a kind sister. Macon, Mississippi. February 6, 1892. About 7:30 o'clock last night JOSEPH S. L. HAMBRICK a prominent farmer and stock raiser of this county, was assassinated while visiting his relative MR. E. R. CONNOR of this place. (He was sitting by the fire and the shot was fired through the window.) MR. HAMBRICK is a son of MR. CALVIN HAMBRICK of New Market, where the deceased lived until he moved to Mississippi, a few years ago. February 17, 1892 Last Monday morning at his home near Hazel Green MR.
