Talladega. Sect. 10. GEN. LEVI W. LAWLER died at his home _?_ miles from Talladega this evening; his remains will be taken to Mobile for burial. Funeral services will take place at the St. Francis St. Baptist Church, Mobile, Monday evening. GEN. LAWLER was about 70 years of age. At the time he died, he was a member of the Railroad Commission of Alabama. (In the Editorial column, commenting on him, the Editor said "GEN. LAWLER was a native Alabamian and was about 76 years old.") September 28, 1892 The sad news reached the city last Friday of the death of MRS. R. 0. KELLY. She leaves a devoted husband and four small children to mourn an irreparable loss. MRS. KELLY is a daughter of the late COL. RIP DAVIS of Athens. The burial of the deceased took place in the cemetery at Athens. (Note: was a child of LAWRENCE RIPLEY DAVIS and his first wife, a MISS ABERCROMBIE of Talladega. See Owens Biographical Dictionary, which errs however in stating COL. DAVIS' daughter MALVINA married a JACKSON; she married JOSEPH HASTIN JACKS of Madison County, grandson of REV. DAVID JACKS. KPJ) See below. October 5, 1892 Died recently in New York City, MR. HORACE TENNANT, only son of W. H. and LUCIA B. TENNENT, only grandson of HORACE UPSHAW, Senator from Virginia, and only brother of MRS. MARY L. DRAKE who resides near Huntsville, Alabama. He married MISS VIRGINIA BOYD; four lovely children were given to them, all of whom preceeded their father to the grave. October 12, 1892 MR. J. M. McGAHA, who had been in charge of the second toll gate on the Whitesburg Pike for some time, died Saturday morning; remains interred in the Love Cemetery near Whitesburg Sunday afternoon. (Death record: JAMES MADISON McGAHA, aged 63, born in Alabama, died October 7, Whitesburg. Married.) Death Record: JANE KELLY, bom in Alabama, aged 42, died at Cluttsville September 23, 1892, buried at Athens. Married. JAMES McDONNELL Esq. returned to Pine Bluff, Arkansas yesterday. He was called to this city Sunday (to attend) the funeral of his father. (Death record: ARCHIBALD McDONNELL, born in Alabama, aged 77 years 7 months 7 days died October 15th at LANIER's...widower.) October 19, 1892 Died at Gurley Wednesday night MR. JOHN KING, highly esteemed by all who knew Him. Left a wife and two children. November 30, 1892 A letter from HENRY NOVATT, Bird City, Kentucky wanting information of the whereabouts of AMOS WINTER, who lived in Huntsville in 1861 with father, mother, sister and brother. He was about ten years old and with some other boys ran away and went into the Confederate Army, joining the Lower Mississippi Regiment commanded by COL. BRECKENRIDGE, and when last heard of was carrying dispatches between the lines. ARGUS 1893 January 26, 1893 MR. JOHN HARRIS, a venerable and respected citizen of the Maysville Precinct, visited the city yesterday. He was anxious to transact his business quickly as he had promised to return to his mother as soon as possible.
