MRS. LUCRETIA J. GILES who removed from Madison County to Texas in 1891, died December 3, 1892. The deceased was born in Madison County January 27, 1843 and was one of the Constituent members of Locust Grove Baptist Church at its organization. She leaves a husband, two sons and one daughter; an aged father, two sisters and five brothers mourn her loss. BETTIE POWER. An account of the elopement of WAT TONEY, son of HARRIS TONEY of Triana, and MISS LUCY, daughter of COL. D. R. HUNDLEY; young TONEY is 19, MISS LUCY 18. Accompanied by JOHN TONEY and MISS MILDRED TONEY (they walked the railroad bridge across the Tennessee River) and were married in Pulaski, Tennessee. Died, MISS EFFIE P. DAVIS ... consumption. In Memoriam, DAVID C. HUNT...a young man...of New Hope. May 18, 1893 On Sunday morning, May 14, MRS. LOUISA M. HAR is exchanged the sorrows of earth for the joys of Heaven. The deceased was born in Petersburg, Georgia December 28, 1819 and was>73 years 4 months and 15 days of age. She was MISS WATKINS and de"«'cended from a family of Virginians. She was married at Courtland, Lawrence County, Alabama to the late S(TEPHEN) W(ILLIS) HARRIS (32 in Georgia) >and after her marriage came to Huntsville. She had four children, two sons and two daughters, but only S. W. HARRIS JR. survives her. Death of MRS. JOSEPH JONES. The westbound train last Sunday brought the remains of MRS. MADGE JONES, daughter of MR. GEORGE W. WARWICK, and widow of the late JOSEPH JONES Esq. a brilliant member of the Alabama Bar, whose tragic death at Bridgeport some ten years ago is still fresh in the memory of those who knew him. MRS. JONES went to Bridgeport about two weeks ago and died Sunday of heart disease. MRS. JONES was a consistent member of the Episcopal Church. She leaves one daughter. Yesterday afternoon MR. JOHN S. NANCE, venerable father of MR. HARRY NANCE died at his residence on Adams Avenue. Before the war MR. NANCE was Receiver of Public Moneys in the U.S. Land Office, and later engaged in the mercantile business. He had passed three score years and ten. The funeral will take place from the Methodist Church this afternoon. The venerable CAPT. JOHN REED is dangerously ill. May 25, 1893 MR. J. C. VANN of this city was ata reunion of his family at Owens X Roads Sunday, complimenting his father and mother, both of whom have passed three score. It was the first reunion of the Vann family in 18 years and the number present footed up to over 150 souls. In addition to MR. and MRS. J. C. VANN of this city, there were present GEORGE, THOMAS, JOS. NEWTON and DEE VANN and their sister MRS. MARY CARMACK. MR. J. A. GAINES a prominent citizen of Winchester, Tennessee died suddenly Thursday of heart disease. June 1, 1893 At an early hour yesterday morning MR. GEORGE H. WARWICK (40 in Pennsylvania) quietly passed into rest eternal. MR. WARWICK, at the time of his death, was one of the oldest citizens of Huntsville. Prior to the war he carried on business as a cabinet maker. He was one of the charter members of Madison Lodge #25 I.O.O.F., installed April 4, 1848. He was the soul of integrity. The funeral will take place this afternoon, REV. DR. BANISTER officiating in the absence of DR. BRYSON, the pastor of whose church the deceased was a member (i.e., the Presbyterian Church.) The funeral of the late JOHN J. FORD will take place this afternoon from the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The deceased was born in this county, his father being one of the wealthiest planters here prior to the war. Of the family, but two members survive, a brother and a 423 - (3723)
