At the beginning of the war the deceased was one of the first to answer the call, and joined the 4th Alabama. He leaves a wife. June 8, 1893 Death of MRS. ELIZA J. REEDY. Shortly after 6 o'clock last evening the soul of the venerable MRS. REEDY, beloved mother of MESSRS. GEORGE and HENRY LANDMAN, slipped away...bowed with the weight of years. DIOUS, Treasurer of Jackson County, died at San Antonio. Texas Tuesday. The remains will be interred at Scottsboro. News has reached Huntsville of the sudden death in Santa Ana, California of MR. WILLIAM B. LACY, a native of Huntsville. June 29, 1893 MR. CORNELIUS McNEIL died at his residence near Gurley last week at the age of 92. MR. M. came of a family remarkable for longevity. t A day or two ago one of his kinsmen, MR. GEORGE DOUGLASS, 82, was in the city looking remarkably robust; he can read without the aid of glasses. PHELAN of the Supreme Bench of Alabama, died in Nashville Sunday night, July 2nd, in her 78th year. July 13, 1893 News of a terrible tragedy at Mint Springs, near Hosters' Creek Saturday; JOHN W. WALKER, a sheep farmer of near Plevna and once a leading merchant there, was found at the spring, almost disemboweled with knife wounds. (He was not dead, but died. WALKER of Plevna was in town and detailed what facts he was in possession of to the Sheriff. July 20,1893 WILLIAM CAMPBELL, business partner and alleged slayer of JOHN W. WALKER, surrendered. MR. ISAAC PARKER, an elderly and much respected citizen who lived in about two miles of New Market, was killed yesterday by a runaway team; his daughter who was with him, was only slightly hurt. The remains of the late JAMES LEFTWICH arrived from St. Louis yesterday and were interred in the City Cemetery. The deceased was a native of Huntsville and son of the late JABEZ N. LEFTWICH; a brilliant, talented young man. He leaves a wife and child now residing here. GEN. JAMES T. HOLTZOLAW died at his home in Montgomery Tuesday in his 60th year; he was a Brigadier General in the Confederate Army. August 3, 1893 The whole county of Madison will be sorrowful to learn of the death of DR. E. T. TALIAFERRO near New Market yesterday. DR. TALIAFERRO came to Madison County from West Tennessee in 1865 and entered into practice of his profession. In 1884 he was elected to the Legislature. He would have been 73 years of age his next birthday--he was three times married. From the first and second marriages there were four children, EDWIN T. XTALIAFERRO of New York, CHARLES P. TALIAFERRO and PAUL TALIAFERRO of Nfew^Market and MRS. R. S. PULLEY of Huntsville. 424 - (3724)
