His last wife was MISS FANNIE PATTERSON who survived him. The funeral will take place in this city from the Baptist Church. We have to chronicle the death yesterday morning of MR. JOHN D. SWASEY. It is not known when he will be buried as the family wish to have his son present, now on his vessel on the Gulf. JOHN DUSTAN SWASEY was born in Bethlehelm, New Hampshire September 28, 1826, married in Patterson, New Jersey MISS JEANNETTE WILSON and came south in 1865, first to Macon, Georgia, and entered the employ of the M & C Railroad. His wife died nearly twenty years ago. There were four children, two dead. Living are JOHN E. SWASEY of New Orleans and MRS. W. A. PARKS of Huntsville... a worthy member of the M. C. Church South. MRS. FIFE, a lady of advanced years died yesterday in this city, at her home on the corner of Washington and Madison Streets. (Death record: MARTHA FIFE, born in Alabama, aged 69, died July 27. 1893 in Huntsville, a widow.) DR. L. C. PYNCHEON received a telegram announcing the death of his only sister. MRS. CARRIE BROYSACHER, at Little Rock. The deceased was well known and greatly beloved in Huntsville. Limrock, July 30. On the mountain above Pt. Rock. THOMAS WILLIAM REAY shot and killed THOMAS J. ERWIN, a merchant, and a HOUSTON SUMMERS (in a dispute over location of a land entry.) Sympathy of the public is with REAY. MRS. COCHRAN, wife of DR. R. E. COCHRAN of New Hope, died on the 2nd instant. She was a daughter of JOHN LEDBETTER, aged 52, and a member of the Primitive Baptist Church. August 10, 1893 MRS. CALtlE DICKEY died at New Hope yesterday. She was a most excellent lady and greatly beloved. (Death record: MRS. J. B. DICKEY aged 50, bom in Alabama, died August 9, 1893, "Beat 5.") August 17, 1893 Died in Marshall County GEORGE BARRETT working in a well near Cushing, was overcome by foul air. MISS EMMA K. HENRY of Philadelphia (telegraph operator in Huntsville) died of consumption. On Sunday, August 13 MR. W. N. DAVIS died at his home in New Market of typhoid fever. At the funeral of DR. TALIAFERRO he was a pall bearer; one of his sons is still suffering from typhoid. The deceased was about 65 years of age and was highly esteemed by all who knew him. He served as Tax Collector one term...a consistent member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, a fond husband, a gentle father. The remains were laid to rest in the family burying ground in New Market. August 24, 1893 Death of MRS. JOSEPH N. GATES. At two o'clock yesterday MRS. SUSAN GATES, mother of MRS. A. B. JONES of this city, died at the residence of her daughter on Randolph Street in her 70th year; remains taken to Jackson, Tennessee for burial in family burying ground at that place. August 31, 1893 MRS. AGATHA LEFTWICK will open a kindergarten on Franklin Street. Sad News. Death of MRS. ANNIE E. HUNDLEY, wife of HON. OSCAR P. HUNDLEY, at Waukesha, Wisconsin yesterday; the remains will reach the city today and the funeral will take place from her late residence. (Died) EUGENE KELLY, son of HON. and MRS. THOS. B. KELLY of Cluttsville, August 20; had just reached the age of maturity. Died--MRS. W. J. POTTS, wife of the late Tax Collector Saturday afternoon at her residence in Meridianville. The funeral took place Sunday at the family burying ground. September 7, 1893 MRS. C. C. CLARK died at her home in Cluttsville Wednesday night after a long illness. MRS. MARY A. HERZ died yesterday. The deceased was a native of Mobile, a lady of rare accomplishments. The funeral will take place from the Church of the Nativity this afternoon. 425 - (3725)
