MRS. OSCAR HORTON, Guntersville, Alabama, November 27, 1954 "I have the will of THOMAS RIVERS who lived in Montgomery County, Tennessee. He has a son, ROBERT RIVERS, who was a preacher and was first President of Athens College after Methodists took it over. He was a first cousin of my ROBERT, who was father of ELDRIDGE KENNON RIVERS, my ancester. My ROBERT RIVERS came to Alabama in 1823. Was from Amherst County, Virginia where he left a will." WOOD of Nashville, Tennessee to MISS ELIZA ECHOLS, daughter of COL. WILLIAM ECHOLS of this county (volume 153, page 18). Died on the 21st ult. at Bellefonte (Jackson County), DOCTOR THOMAS J. HARRIS aged 27. His death was occasioned by being thrown against a tree from a horse at full speed. August 6, 1824 Married in this place Thursday the 29th of July b6 REV. MR. ALLEN, COL. JAMES J. PLEASANTS, Secretary of State, to MISS EMILY JULIA BIBB, daughter of THOMAS BIBB, Esq. (volume 195, page 92). Died in this town on Saturday the 31st instant MR. THOMAS GILLIAM aged 33, formerly of Richmond, Virginia. On the 2nd instant in this place, SARAH JANE, infant daughter of ALEXANDER and JANE WILSON, aged 15 months and 11 days. September 10, 1824 Died on the 23rd at the residence near Washington, Mississippi after a short illness, HON. LEWIS WINSTON, Judge of the 2nd Judicial District of that state. October 8, 1824 Died in this town Wednesday night last, MR. JOHN B. COX aged about 20. Departed this life on the 30th of September, MRS. MARY TATE, wife of CAPT. JOHN TATE, Limestone County, Alabama. October 22, 1824 Died on the 22nd instant in Jefferson County, Mississippi, MR. JAMES MACKEY of the firm of BEDFORD and MACKEY, merchants of New Orleans and late of this town. October 29, 1824 Died on the 27th instant at Elizabethtown, New Jersey, MRS. SARAH C(LARK) POPE, wife of WILLIS POPE, Esq. (son of LEROY) of this town in her 36th year. (nee SARAH CLARK HETFIELD; married October 21, 1812 ELIZ.; ancester of MRS. A. P. WHITE, 1965). In Cincinnati on the 3rd, MR. ABRAHAM S. THEW, formerly of this town. December 3, 1824 Married Thursday evening the 25th by REV. MR. THOMPSON, MR. JOHN M(ADISON) CALDWELL of this town to MISS EMILY BELL of this county.
