May 20, 1875 Died, MRS. CAROLINE M. McCALLEY, wife of MR. THOMAS S. McCALLEY at the residence of her husband in this vicinity Friday the 14th after a painful illness of two or three months in her 55th year. Funeral took place at the church of Nativity Sunday evening last REV. DR. BANISTER officiating. Native of this county, daughter of ROBERT LANFORD, one among the oldest settlers in Madison County. May 27, 1875 Another old citizen gone! MR. IRVIN WINDHAM (49 in Virginia) died at his residence in this city Tuesday night last after a very brief illness of paralysis in his 76th year. Has been a worthy citizen of this county about 55 years. Methodist. June 3, 1875 DR. LT D. CARTER, an old citizen of this city died May 6 after a long and serious illness. June 10, 1875 Died near Huntsville, May 19, HENRY, infant son of JAMES and ELVIRA PAUL aged 4 months and 6 days. June 17, 1875 Died in Knoxville, Tennessee June 10, 1875 of consumption, MRS. MARGARET E. STINE, wife of MR. B. F. STINE of this city aged 39. Had been in wretched health for many months and went to Knoxville (home of her childhood) on a visit to her sisters. Methodist. Obituary: MRS. SAPHRONIA E. MARTIN died of consumption at Madison Station May 29, 1875. Second wife of MR. E. T. MARTIN, a very highly respected citizen of Madison.... W. T. ANDREWS June 24, 1875 REV. JAMES ELLIOTT was bom 1799 and died June 5, 1875. For 50 years he was actively engaged in preaching as a minister in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Although denied privileges of education, he did great good. Throughout middle Tennessee and north Alabama, he was well known. Out of a large family, he leaves only a widowed daughter. His wife and 8 children had "gone before." July 1, 1875 Died in Triana, Albama June 18, 1875 of consumption, MRS. LIZZIE P. GRANTLAND.... Obituary: POCAHONTAS, daughter of JOHN M. and FRANCES ELDRIDGE died at her home in Madison County near Huntsville one evening of May 3, 1875.... July 8, 1875 Died in Trianna June 19, MRS. LIZZIE P. GRANTLAND, wife of CAPT. H. W. GRANTLAND and daughter of W. B. and M. E. EDWARDS. Born October 10, 1843; married CAPT. H. W. GRANTLAND April 10, 1860. July 15, 1875 Married at the residence of ex-Mayor B. M. SOWEL in Athens on Monday July 5, 1875 by REV. F. T. J. BRANDON, MR. CLEMENT G. CAPSHAW to MISS EMMA C. DUPREE. Died July 8 after a brief illness, MRS. LUCY JOHNSON RUBLEE, daughter of MR. and MRS. A. J. JOHNSON.... July 22, 1875 Died in this county on 30 June of paralysis at residence of his daughter, MRS. SIBLEY, MR. MILLS JENKINS (45 in North Carolina) aged 70 years 5 months and 13 days.... Leaves a wife and large circle of relatives and friends. Married in this city on 19th in Church of Nativity by REV. DR. BANISTER, MR. JAMES M. GILBERT and MISS BELLE REYNOLDS, both of Gilbert Sisters Dramatic Troupe. 444 - (3744)
