August 19, 1880 OSCAR HUNDLEY, Esq. was suddenly called to Nashville yesterday by the death of his wife's sister, MISS EMMA THOMAS. September 9, 1880 Married at the Baptist Church at 9 p.m. Thursday, September 2nd, 1880 by REV. W. FRANKLIN KONE, ARTHUR L. HARRIS and MISS L. E. WEAVER... Died, THOMAS K. BEAVES (BEAVERS?) at San Antonio, Texas of consumption. The deceased was a great favorite during his sojourn in Huntsville as express agent. DR. JOHN S. BLAIR, well known in Madison and Limestone Counties for more than a half century died recently at the residence of his son, DR. FRANK BLAIR, who lives near Gurleysville in this county. Native of Logan County, Kentucky and was nearly 73. His parents first resided near Mooresville from which they were forced to move by unfriendly Indians. The deceased practiced medicine for many years in Southwestern portion of Limestone County. September 16, 1880 CAPT. JAMES W. POLLARD died September 11th at his late home. Bom in Madison County November 14, 1828. In early life, he was a grand muster of COL. BLUNT's militia regiment and lost an arm while loading a cannon. In 1859 he was elected Superintendent of Streets and Water Works of Huntsville.... Left wife and children. CAPT. JUSTIN D. TOWNER, hotel proprietor of fame, died at Blount Springs September 9th of gall stones. Had left Huntsville a day or two before in perfect health. Native of Illinois and commanded an Illinois company in the late war. Married a second time, his last wife being a MISS BUGG, daughter of a prominent citizen of Giles County (Tennessee). CAPT. TOWNER was about 40 years of age.... September 23, 1880 MR. WILLIAM C. McPHERSON died at the Huntsville Hotel Tuesday night last. Was in the employ of Southern Express Company here. Native of Hopkinsville, Kentucky and son of COL. JOHN W. McPHERSON. MISS LOUISA J. BRICKELL died.... Death of JUDGE A. R. MANNING (see vol. XXXIX) Friday the 17th instant in New Youk City. Accompanied by his wife, two daughters, a son-in-law, COL. DUNN of Alabama, he went to New York for his health. Born in Perth Amboy, New York 1810. Came to Alabama with his uncle, JAMES MANNING. September 30, 1880 Died Friday, EDMUND TONEY, second son of EDMUND TONEY of Triana. MISS KATE THOMPSON died at the residence of J. R. STEGALL September 28th. MRS. NANCY WINSTON, sister of the late THOMAS and WILLIAM BRANDON (wife of ISAAC), who were well-known in early history of the community, died at the residence of her son, MR. ISAAC WINSTON near Meridianville in this county Sunday the 26th of September 1880. Born in Burke County, North Carolina in 1790, she was the mother of 11 children, 5 of whom have gone before her. When in her 16th year, she became a member of the Methodist Church and for 74 years remained a devout member... Was 90 years of age at her death.... MR. SEHUYLER HARRIS, residing within 1% miles of Harris Station, Limestone County, died at his home Wednesday, September 22nd after a brief illness...was an excellent citizen.... November 4, 1880 Died at the residence of R. M. THOMPSON on the 19th of October, MRS. E. S. GARVIN aged 69.... November 11, 1880 MRS. SARAH CAWTHON, wife of THOMAS CAWTHON resided near Brownsboro died Sunday November 7th aged about 79 years, of consumption. Died near Madison on the 28th of October in her 46th year, MRS.
