Death of JOHN SHELBY CORBITT Friday, March 24, 1882 aged 33. He resided here more than 9 years. Left a wife and two children. Born near McMinnville, Tennessee. Aoril 27, 1882 Died, FRANK MASTIN SCRUGGS, son of JAMES WADDY SCRUGGS, of consumption at the residence of his brother-in-law, E(LIOTT) R. MATTHEWS, April 21st. Bom November 5, 1861. (married September 24, 1869 FANNIE SCRUGGS.) May 4, 1882 JI IT BATTLE died at DR. HAMPTON'S, his brother-in-law, last Saturday night. Was 25 years old. May 11 1882 Died May 4 at the residence of his father near Madison, JOHN G. BOWERS, born November 28, 1850. May 18, 1882 COL. ISAAC D.-WANN died Saturday night May 13 about 2 miles north of New Hope. Had .lived in Madison County about 40 years and was more than 60 years old. MRS. ELIZA LANE, widow of JAMES LANE of Athens (Limestone County) died Tuesday at an advanced age. She was a sister of the late COL. SAMUEL PEETE of Huntsville. (BERY-PEETE was their father--see will in Limestone County--our volume 21 and 32) May 25, 1882 B. FRANKENBERGER died at his late residence on Pulaski Road. Came to Huntsville from Pennsylvania about 4 years ago and was 72 years old. MRS. FANNIE MOORE THOMPSON, wife of REV. JOHN A. THOMPSON died May 23rd aged 28. June 8, 1882 MR. THOMAS McAllister died...left a wife. June 15, 1882 MRS. JANE HAMILTON CHILDS died May 22nd. (see obituary in volume 165, page 59) June 29, 1882 Death of FLEMING WHITE (tombstone--FLEMING BATES WHITE bom 1802, died June 26, 1882) at his home about nine miles northwest of Huntsville, June 26th. Was one of the oldest citizens of Madison County--aged 83. Death of MR. JAMES JOHNSTON June 27th. Leaves wife and several children. July 13, 1882 MAJ. POWHATTEN ROBINSON died near Florida coast July 7th. Civil Engineer of the Department of U.S. engaged in work upon several streams in southern portions of Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. Native of Virginia. July 20, 1882 Died--the wife of CHARLES A. GILL at Dallas, Texas July 9th. Leaves an infant of three weeks. July 27, 1882 DR. WILLIAM PATTON WATKINS born in Huntsville December 9, 1854 and died here July 22, 1882 after a brief illness. Graduate of Washington and Lee College, Virginia and afterwards of University of Virginia, then went to New York. Only son of JAMES LAWRENCE and ELIZA WATKINS. Died at the residence of his aunt, MRS. LOUISA HARRIS. August 24, 1882 Died August 15th after a long illness at the residence of her husband, MR. WILLIS WOODALL near New Market. MRS. SUE H. DOUGLASS WOODALL in her 45th year. 452 - (3752)
