August 31, 1882 Died--MR. STEPTOE PICKETT, one of our best known citizens at Madison Tuesday, August 29th in his 66th year. For many years he has been a respectable citizen of this county. September 7 1882 CAPTAIN WILLIAM L. MUDD died at Birmingham (Jefferson County) Friday, September 1st of typhoid fever. September 14 1882 REV. DAVID JACKS died August 27th at the residence of his son, J. H. JACKS, Mt. Fork about 6 miles north of New Market. He was born in North Carolina in 1795. Has lived a highly esteemed citizen of Madison County since 1832. Leaves many friends and relatives. September 21, 1882 Died--MRS. MARY M. BRECK, wife of DR. BRECK, who lived in Huntsville many years ago. Died at Canton, Mississippi September 14th after a brief illness. Died on the night of September 10th at the home of MR. M. BONE, MISS JENNIE LEE, only daughter of A. D. LANEDEN. October 5, 1882 MR. A. V. HOXTER, whose nigh unto 75 years of youth blossomed as he took the train from Decatur (Morgan County) to Huntsville, where he first saw MRS. PARMELIA MURRELL, ripe relict of the late ANDY MURRELL. The effect was electrical, he proposed marriage within one hour and they were married at once. October 26, 1882 MRS. ELIZABETH ANGELL, relict of the late JOSEPH ANGELL for many years a resident of Huntsville died at the residence of her son, ALBERT H. ANGELL in Brooklyn, New York Wednesday, October 18th in her 74th year. When here, she was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, but later of the Baptist Church. Died, WILLIAM M. BRANDON, formerly a resident of Huntsville, in Little Rock (Pulaski County), Arkansas, November 12th of typhoid fever. Known here as MAC BRANDON, brother-in-law of our sheriff. WILLIAM CRUSE COLES died Friday in Huntsville November 10th in his 29th year having been bom September 25, 1853. Died at New Market Monday night October 2, 1882, JOE CALVIN, son of W. F. and F. E. LAXSON aged 2 years 3 months and 16 days. November 23, 1882 DR. HENRY WILLIS BASSETT was killed November 20th. Left a wife (nee CARRIE NEAL) and two little boys. November 30, 1882 MR. JAMES LANDMAN died at the residence of his son-in-law, MR. WILLIAM F. BALDRIDGE, southwest of Huntsville, Tuesday November 28th. He was about 82 and had spent a greater portion of his life in Madison County. Leaves behind him many relatives and friends. December 7, 1882 Death of JAMES ANDERSON, son of our esteemed fellow citizen, JOHN B. ANDERSON at Decatur (Morgan County) Saturday night December 2. Leaves a young wife (nee DICKSON). Obituary of JAMES LANDMAN (see page 61). Born in Virginia in 1801 and moved to Madison County, Alabama some time in 1809 and has resided here ever since. On June 4, 1836 (1835, should be) he married MISS JULIA HATTEN. They had several children but only two are now living, his wife having died some years ago.... December 21, 1882 Died at her home in Madison County December 18th, in her 65th year, MRS. ELIZABETH T. McMAHAN. She was married February 11, 1845 to JOHN McMAHAN and had but one child, a daughter, who died nine months ago. Nashville Christian Advocate please copy. 453 - (3753)
