November 11, 1825 Died on the 8th instant, in this place after three days illness, GEORGE W. LEE, formerly of North Carolina, but for many years a highly respected citizen of this town. November 18, 1825 Married on Friday the 11th instant by THOMAS HUMES, Esq. MR. RICHARD H. CHAMPION to MISS ELIZABETH COBB, all of this town. Died on the 11th instant WILLIAM ANTHONY AUGUSTUS, aged 4 years, son of WILLIAM HARRIS, Esq. of this county. Suffered intolerable pain for the last three months from a schrophulous affection, producing hard and enlarged tumors of the abdomen and caries of the jawbone. He evinced extraordinary firmness etc. January 13, 1826 Died on Saturday night last in this place, MAJ. THOMAS BANISTER, aged 78, formerly of Jamaica, Long Island, New York. Much regretted by friends and acquaintances. Married on the 17th instant by REV. JOHN ALLEN, MR. JOHN A. FACKLER, merchant to MISS ELIZABETH TURNER, all of this city. Married at Fairfield, Tennessee the seat of WILLIAM B. LEWIS, Esq. on Thursday evening last, ABRAHAM P. HENRY, Esq. Editor of Nashville Republican to MISS MARY CLAIBORNE. March 31, 1826 Married on Wednesday evening by WILLIAM ROUNTREE, Esq. MR. JOHN C. FINLAY to MISS CYNTHIA, eldest daughter of MR. ROBERT HAMBLET, all of this county. Died on the 13th ult. at his residence in Blount County, Alabama GEN. GABRIEL HANBY, aged about 40. He was a member of the Convention that framed the Constitution. OWEN's Dictionary of Alabama Biographies Volume III page 739 says GABRIEL HANBY lived in Henry County, Virginia until ca. 1817 when he moved to Blount County, Alabama. April 28 1826 Died on Thursday morning the 27th instant, in the 20th year of his age, WILLIAM LEE HAMMOND, eldest son of CAPT. ELI HAMMOND of this county. May 12, 1826 Married on Tuesday evening the 25th ult. in Tuscaloosa by REV. MR. CURTIS, HENRY W. COLLIER, Esq. to MISS MARY BATTLE, all of that place. Died in the vicinity of Huntsville on Saturday the 15th ult., MRS. MINERVA P. CLEMENS, aged about 32 years. She left a husband and four small children. Died on Wednesday the 26th of April, GEORGE P. HARRELL, Esq. in his 52nd year, an old and respectable citizen of Madison County. Died on Friday the 5th instant in Jackson County, MAJ. DANIEL PEYTON in his 64th year. MRS. PHEBE JOHNSTON Limestone County, Alabama Died.--On the 6th instant at the residence of JOHN B. WILKINSON, Esq. in Limestone County, MRS. PHEBE JOHNSTON in 114th year of her age. MRS. JOHNSTON was born in Bermuda in 1712, was married in 1732 to CAPT. JOHNSTON in the British service, who removed to Georgia with GEN. OGLETHORP at the first settlement of that state, where he remained until the close of the revolution, when he removed to the Bahama Islands 455 - (3755)
