June 2, 1832 Died on Wednesday morning last on 30th ult. at residence of his brother in this place, MR. JAMES POPE, aged about 60. June 9, 1832 Died on 28th of May at his residence in this vicinity, MR. WILLIAM WATKINS, SEN. aged 76 years. Native of Virginia, but at early period of his life moved to Georgia, whence he removed to west about 23 years ago. Kind and affectionate husband and father (From Courtland Herald June 1st) June 16, 1832 Died on Friday, 3rd instant at his residence in this county, CAPT. EDWARD HARRIS aged about 40 years, an old and respected citizen. (Re-checked and age is 40, but a descendant says this is wrong--that he was supposed to be 56 and bom in Amherst County, Virginia) Died on 10th, MRS. MARTHA G. RATHBONE, consort of RUFUS C. RATHBONE, Esq. of this county. Native of Warren County, North Carolina and resided for many years in Kershaw District, South Carolina. Note: In 1835 he married ELIZ. MASON. He died 1842 in 62 or 67th year and she married 1843 ELI DEAN. In 1843 ELIZ. DEAN and RATHBONE children were in Monroe County, Mississippi. See our volume 76. June 23, 1832 Died Thursday last in this place after lingering illness, THOMAS J. SUMNER, Esq. , Senior Editor of the "Democrat." Left wife and one child. Died on 27th of May in Sullivan County, Tennessee HON. JOHN RHEA, aged 79. June 30, 1832 Married in Fayetteville, Tennessee 25th instant by REV. MR. COWAN, MR. HENRY L. BROWN of Huntsville to MISS LOUISA P. MOSELEY, eldest daughter of CAPT. W. H. MOSELEY, of Mooresville (Alabama). July 14, 1832 Died on 27th instant in New Orleans, after illness of four days, MR. DAVID L. WAYLAND of this place aged 27. July 21, 1832 Married Thursday 21st instant at residence of COL. WILLIAM HODGES in Lawrence County, Alabama by REV. CARSON P. REID, the REV. ROBERT DONNEL to MISS CLARISSA W. LINDLEY, late Principal of Oakville Female Academy. Died at Bedford, Pennsylvania on 1st instant MR. JAMES I. HOGE, late of House of P. T. MASTIN and Company and for 14 years a resident of this town. July 28, 1832 Married near Courtland on Tuesday 17th instant by REV. MR. BESTER, MR. WILLIAM V(ERMILIA) CHARDAVOYNE to MARTHA, daughter of the late WILLIAM WATKINS, Esq. August 25, 1832 Died on 17th instant after protracted illness, MRS. CAROLINE R. H. SPENCER, wife of MR. SAMUEL SPENCER of this place. September 15, 1832 Died on Sunday last, 10th instant, at his residence three miles from this place, MAJOR WILLIAM JONES aged about 55 years, formerly of Virginia and for a number of years a citizen of this county, Richmond Enquirer requested to copy. September 29, 1832 Married Wednesday evening, 19th instant by REV. MR. DOUGLAS, MR. WILLIAM W. FLOYD to MISS MARGARET ANN FRIER of Limestone County. Married on Tuesday evening last, 25th instant by REV. AASHLEY B. ROZELL, MR. CLEMENT WOODWARD to MISS MARTHA ANN MARTIN, daughter of MR. WOODY MARTIN, all of this town. 476 - (3776)
