WADE CEMETERY LOCATION: Section 26-2S-1W. W/2 SE SW. At the back of the barn lot on the old Bob Wade estate on Bob Wade Lane. Note: There are no stones in this cemetery, however, the present owner of the estate told me that when they bought the land they were told that this spot was the location of the old Wade family cemetery. There were no stones there when they bought the place and it is unknown who is buried there. In Spring of 1817, three Wade brothers, David,Littleberry and John, left their home in Virginia to build a life on the New Frontier, the Mississippi Territory. John settled in Tennessee but David and Littleberry came on to North Alabama. David settled on what is now known as Bob Wade Lane while Littleberry chose land over the mountain in the Big Cove area. David and his wife, nee Eliza Grantland of Virginia, had six children: Margaret A. -M- John P. Turner (of Limestone Co.) 1-16-1838 (MB-4). Amanda - never married. Died 1898. Managed farm after father's death. Malvinia - (no information). David Jr. -M- (1st) Mary F. Sibley 11-11-1857, (2nd) Parolee T. Wooldridge 7-24-1861 (MB-4B). Harriet - never married. Kept house for Amanda after parents' death. Robert B. -M- Mary P. Boggess 4-23-1851 (MB-4B) Littleberry Wade, David's brother, -M- Sarah A. Christian 3-4-1839 (MB-4). Census, Oct. 30, 1850: Wade, David (66) Va., farmer - $12,000. (died just prior to Civil War). Eliza (56) Va. Amanda (30) Ala. - never married. Died 1898. Harriet (22) Ala. - died before Amanda.
