JOHN HARDIE to MISS HARRIET H. SEXTON (SAXON in marriage record) Died in New Orleans on 11th May, ARTHUR F. HOPKINS, son of ARTHUR M. and ELIZA P. HOPKINS aged 3 years and 9 months. Died in this county on the 23rd ult. in his 85th year, CAPTAIN PEYTON POWELL, formerly of Virginia, but for the last thirty years of this county. He was a lieutenant in the Revolutionary army, and did his duty nobly. He was greatly respected by all. August 9, 1844 Married on 30th of July by REV. THOMAS M. KING, DR. WILLIAM G. RODES, formerly of Lexington, Kentucky to MRS. MARY E. ROPER of Jackson County. Died on 2nd, MARIA, youngest child of A. J. and MARY W. WITHERS aged 2 years and 17 days. Died near Bellefonte on 30th, DR. HENRY S. CHANDLER, formerly of this county in his 27th year. Died in Madison County, Mississippi on 12th of July of congestive fever, DR. BENJAMIN F. JONES, formerly of this county in his 24th year. Died in Tuscumbia on 24th, HON. PETER WALKER aged about 51. August 2, 1844 Died in Tuscaloosa on 18th instant MR. WILLIAM M. WOMACK, printer, aged 24 years a native of Virginia. For a few years back, he has been a resident of this place. August 30, 1844 Married on 18th instant MR. ROBERT J. MENDUM to MISS SARAH BREECE, all of this county. Marriage record says REECE--see our volume 187, page 51. Married on 15th instant MR. WILLIAM C. NICHOL to MISS PERLINA, daughter of MAJ. H. C. FEATHERSTON, all of this county. See marriage record in our volume 187, page 50. Married on 15th instant by REV. HOWELL PEOPLES, SR., JEREMIAH FRENCH to MISS MARIETTA DAVIS, both of this place. Died on 31st near this place, MR. ELIJAH WARREN, old citizen of this county. Died on 1st instant in this place, MARY LOUISA, infant daughter of MR. and MRS. E. R. WALLACE. September 13, 1844 Married in Nashville on 2nd instant JOHN R. BLOCKER, Esq. of Mobile to MISS ANN E. youngest daughter of MICHAEL C. DUNN, Esq. of Davidson County (Tennessee).
