JOHN LAMBERTSON, of this county, (she died in Greene County July 20, 1853) December 25, 1847 Died, ELIZABETH ANDERSON JENKINS on Wednesday the 15th, daughter of STEPHEN and MARY KILLINGSWORTHS and a native of Knox County, Tennessee. Member of M. E. Church. Became the wife of REV. WARREN L. JENKINS in April 1833, whom she left with 4 interesting children. January 1, 1848 Died in Nashville, on 29th instant MR. STEPHEN S. CHEEK aged about 57 years. On 26 of pneumonia, MR. LODWICK GRAVETT, a well-known citizen of this county. Departed this life in the Town of Somerville on 16, after severe illness of 17 days, THOMAS SERVALLEN, only son of TOM (42 in Tennessee) and MARTHA A. PRICE (41 in Georgia) aged 3 years 7 months. January 15, 1848 Died at his residence near this village on Sunday morning on 26th December in 49th year of his age, MR. CALEB TONEY, Triana, Alabama January 1, 1848 (long obituary). Died near Huntsville on evening of 25th December, 1847 LODERICK GRAVETTE aged 39-9-10. Deceased was bom in the State of Virginia March 15, 1808 but was principally raised in Madison County. Left an affectionate wife and 3 little children. January 29, 1848 Died in Decatur on 12 of consumption, MRS. PENELOPE DANCY (she was nee MITCHELL, married 1836), wife of MR. WILLIAM M. DANCEY (33 in North Carolina). February 5, 1848 Died in Franklin County on 21st, MR. HUGH FINLEY aged 67 years. First white man who settled where Tuscumbia now is. February 12, 1848 Died at his residence in Madison County on 28th, MR. MARCUS LAFAYETTE HIGH in about the 65th year of his age, of pneumonia. Left a widow and 7 children. February 19, 1848 Died very suddenly at the residence of her son in Limestone County January 31st 1848, MRS. JANE WORD, consort of WILLIAM WORD, SR. in 75th year of her age. In Mexico in December last, CHRISTOPHER C. BUDD, corporal of Company F, 13th Infantry. Sick only 2 days. April 8, 1848 Died in Hutnsville, Alabama April 1, 1848 JEREMIAH C. JONES, son of LEROY H. and MARY A. JONES aged 4 years 2 months 4 days. At his residence near Berkley in this county on Tuesday the 28th after a violent attack of pleurisy, BURGESS COLBERN, a man much esteemed by his neighbors and a worthy citizen. 493 - (3793)
