JAMES BASCOM WARD, son of JOHN and SARAH WARD formerly of Albemarle County, Virginia, died at his father's residence near Huntsville, Alabama on the 26th aged 15 years 7 months. Died on 31, MR. WILLIAM TAYLOR aged about 35 years, a worthy, honest and industrious citizen of this place. Very suddenly on 1st at residence of her brother, CAPT. GEORGE STEEL, MRS. ELIZABETH G. DICKEY, for many years a pious member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. WILLIAM H. POPE died on his plantation in Washington County, Mississippi on Wednesday the 22 March in his 42nd year. April 15, 1848 Departed this life on the 5th instant in Loweville, Madison County, Alabama in 36th year of her age, MRS. HARRIET WILLIAMS, consort of COL. E. W. WILLIAMS and daughter of the late JOHN and present DUANA ALLISON. She was raised in Madison County. May 20 1848 Died in Jackson County on 2nd, MRS. RACHEL MITCHELL, Consort of A(RCH'D) S. MITCHELL, Esq. (42 in Tennessee) in 5th (4? 5th? 1st figure blurred, but 45 would be right) year of her age. Deceased was from and raised in Madison County and has left a large circle of friends. June 10, 1848 Married on 30th ult. by REV. G. A. COLLIER, MR. JOEL P. LEDBETTER (31 in Alabama) of Warrenton, Marshall County, Alabama to MISS JANE C. (20 in Alabama), daughter of DR. DILLARD of Jackson County, Alabama. June 24, 1848 Died at his residence near Lamar, Marshall County, Mississippi on 9th instant CAPT. E. DUPUY in 59th year. On 17th MR. ELIJAH DRAKE of this county. He was born on 16th of May, 1793. Married at residence of A. G. HOOK, Esq. in Fayette County, Tennessee by REV. JOSEPH E. DOUGLASS, MAJ. J. J. STEGER, Representative of Marshall County, Mississippi to MISS EMELINE RAIFORD. August 12 1848 Married on Thursday evening the 3rd, MR. THOS. ESSLINGER to MISS ELIZA ANN SCOTT. Died in this place of a very protracted and lingering disease MRS. SUSANNAH BURROW in 38th year of her age. Born in Knox County, Tennessee, raised principally in Lincoln County, same state where she married JAMES BURROW. Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Left a husband and seven children. September 2, 1848 Died at his residence in Talladega County on 17, MR. JOHN HARDIE, in the 51st year of his age. Deceased was well-known in this community and was an honest, upright, kind hearted sensible man. (He lived 1st in Madison County where he married in 1828 MARY MEADE HALL, daughter of REV. ISAAC HALL). September 9, 1848 Died in Moulton on 27, REV. WM. GOULD about 40 years of age. In Tuscumbia on 23 ult., MR. WILLIAM NORTHCROSS. (WILSON NORTHCROSS died August 24, 1848 (see CROXTON Bible; 2nd husband of MARY JANE MISSOURI CROXTON daughter of ELIJAH CROXTON). October 6, 1848 Married in this place on Tuesday evening last the 3rd instant by REV. S. S. YARBROUGH, CAPT. DUDLEY SALE of this county, to MISS DELIA COLEMAN of Huntsville. Also at the resience of CAPT. DUDLEY SALE in this county on Wednesday evening last on 4th instant by REV. S. S. YARBROUGH, MR. LEVEN POWELL to MISS FRANCES A. E. HARRIS, only daughter of MR.
