WINTHROP, late Speaker of the House of Representatives to MRS. WELLS, a wealthy and fashionable lady of Boston. Died on the 17th instant in Vienna (Alabama) in his 22nd year, MR. THOMAS L. BAINS ... Methodist. Died in Athens (Limestone County) on the 21st instant, JAMES ALLEN, son of REV. J. W. ALLEN. December 14 1849 Married on the 29th instant, MR. SAMUEL SEAY to MRS. RACHAEL R. HUDNELL, both of Nashville. Married by REV. M. H. BONE on the 5th instant, DR. WILLIAM D. ALLEN to MISS MARTHA ACKLEN, all of Loweville, Madison County (volume 71, page 8). Married on the 8th instant by REV. J. LEROY HARRIS, MR. JOHN T(HOMAS) DILWORTH to MISS MARGARET A(NN) SMITH, all of this county. (volume 133 page 23). Married on the 29th instant by same, MR. HOWARD A(LEX) TORBET (26 in Tennessee) to MISS CYNTHIA ANN GARDNER (20 in Alabama), all of this county. (1st wife--MRS. HUBERT M. NORWOOD (client of MISS CLAIR WRIGHT) is descendant of 2nd wife, MARTHA NAVE. TORBETS in 1850 census Madison County, 1860 census Perry County, married MARTHA NAVE, Perry County March 15. 1859, volume 151, page 27, 35) Departed this life, AMANDA NOWLIN COLEMAN, born in Davidson County, Tennessee on July 11, 1809 and so was in her 41st year. Daughter of WILLIAM and SARAH BIBB, both of whom lived for many years and died in the immediate vicinity of this place.... When she was a mere girl, her parents removed and settled down within sight of Huntsville. At the age of 16 or 17. she joined the Methodist Episcopal Church. She married on October 2, 1828 WILLIAM B. DENNETT by whom there were two children, WILLIAM and JAMES. Her first husband died September 18, 1839 and she was again married to JOHN J. COLEMAN, Esq. on June 6, 1841 and departed this life most suddenly Friday morning December 7, 1849 at 5 o'clock. She left two little children by her last husband--JOHN WILLIAMS WALKER and AMANDA NARCISSA GRAVES, the former upwards of 6 and the latter under 3 years .... Died on the 29th instant, at Cairo, COL. JOHN H. WILSON, formerly commander of the Steamboat Huntsville. December 21, 1849 Died at 10 p.m. at the residence of RICHARD MARTIN in Madison County, MRS. SUSANNA FITZ aged 90 years. In Florence on 7th, MR. JOSEPH ALEXANDER aged 44 years. January 16, 1850 Died near Marianna, Florida on 18, JUDGE S. W. CARMACK of Fayetteville, Tennessee. January 30, 1850 Died in Athens on 17, MRS. MARTHA A. IRWIN, wife of WM. IRWIN aged about 49 years. On 19th, in same place. WM. BROWN aged 15. In Columbus, Mississippi on 27. RUFFIN COLEMAN aged 51. In Madison County on 3rd, JAMES THOMAS and on 10th, FEODORAH S. L. infant children of MR. R. E. BRISTER. February 13, 1850 Died in Memphis on 31 ult. of cholera, MR. A. H. CLIFTON aged 50. Married on 6th. MR. STEPHEN A. HUNT to MRS. SARAH L. TRAVIS, both of Athens (SARAH LOUISA TRAVIS was divorced from HENRY TRAVIS in Limestone County 1846). February 20, 1850 Died on 27 in Madison County. DR J. A. FINDLEY aged 27 of consumption formerly a resident of Philadelphia. Departed this life on 10th at residence of her son-in-law. COL. J. N.
