In 1842 joined the M. E. Church.... (Letter from MR. d'ARMAND--February 27, 1952--"I have identified BENJ. DUARMON as a son of HUGH DEYARMON, SENIOR, of Uniontown, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. Also BENJ, had 3 brothers: ALEXANDER, HUGH, JR. and MELHERD. 1830 census for Madison County, Alabama shows him as head of a household --- (faded) only 3 m 20-30; 1 m 15-20. These correspond to ages of his brothers. Also, I have a notation that his father died at age of 45 by a fall from a horse. His 1st child was born 1798, so we can assume he was grown which would bring his death before 1830. It is possible and probable that BENJ.'s younger brothers were with him temporarily in 1830. A family letter says that a nephew saw BENJ, in Uniontown in 1835; probably on a visit. His title as a doctor also agrees as another letter said he went at an early age to Knoxville to study medicine and later became an M.D. MRS. VA P. LIDWIN, Crystal, Texas 1957 says EMILY J. AULD wife of BENJ. DUARMON was daughter of JOLIN and NANCY (ANN JACKSON) AULD; granddaughter of DR. ISAAC and MARY JACKSON of Madison County. She was widow of BENJ. DUARMON, who was dead in 1837. ROSCOE d"ARMAND says "I have identified BENJ. DEARMON as belonging to the family of HUGH DeGARMON of -50-Pennsylvania." 501 - (3801)
